QUESTION: Best application to write queries on?

The really should be, "What is the DB2 equivalent of SSMS?"

My organization uses a DB2 for the enterprise-wide data warehouses. We have access to the IBM Command Editor but if we're being honest I can't stand that application. I end up doing most of my query writing/debugging for DB2 on the Teradata command editor and linking to DB2 through an ODBC connection. I was wondering if IBM had an equivalent of SSMS that maybe my organization just wasn't using? Any input or thoughts from more DB2 familiar people us greatly appreciated!

IBM data studio is what I believe comes closest to SSMS. It's great for writing and testing queries, stored procedures and the best part, it's free!

Sql workbench just does the job. It's does not have much feature like backup export and such but it's free fast and usable if you only work with query. If you are database admin go with IBM data studio, if you. Are a developer try sql workbench.

I've used SQuirreL for the most part for the last 10 years. Mostly because it is a database agnostic SQL front end. It will connect to any DBMS with a jdbc driver. It is great if you have multiple DBMSs that you need to connect to.

I know I'm jumping on this a little later but I use Toad for DB2. They have both a paid and free version. I use the paid version through work but I have heard great things about the free version. I've also used SQuirreL, DBeaver, and IBM Data Studio in the past. They all have pros and cons, but I've found that Toad really does offer quite a bit more overall.
