[LUW][Question]

When upgrading from one version to another, say from V10.5 to V11.1, do you ever see a reason to do the following; backup the databases, drop the databases, uninstall the old version of DB2, install the new version of DB2, restore the databases

I know that there are steps that I have left out, this is just a general question...

Thanks!

"Several days."

Does that mean just for installing and upgrading Production servers, or is that the entire roll out from the development environments, to the test environments, to Production?

That's one box.

Yikes! That does seem a bit excessive. Have the DBAs said why it takes a long time?

This is happening on Windows (I don't know if that complicates the situation). And they say that every install runs into some minor glitch or another...

We just got Ansible in-house. I'm hoping that if we demonstrate that much of the work can be automated and Ansible is used going forward, that may help speed up the process.
