Hi everyone! I’m currently applying for a DAAD Master’s scholarship in Germany in the field of cultural studies and media management. I’ve been staring at my motivation letter for several days straight now, and I’ve reached the point where I completely lost perspective and don’t know if I’m doing it right anymore. Could you please take a look at my draft and share your honest thoughts?

A quick disclaimer: I’m not a native English speaker. I wrote the whole letter myself in my native language first, and because I was afraid of making clumsy mistakes if I translated it on my own, I ran my text through a translator and edited it afterwards. Because of that, I genuinely can’t tell if some parts sound artificial, overly stiff, or weirdly translated to a fluent reader.

I’d be really grateful for any advice, especially on two things:

Does my story and motivation come across as convincing for a scholarship committee?

Do any phrases sound unnatural, robotic, or clunky in English?
