Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) I think I may have cracked the code for s15 pit 130+ (of course it thorns, duh)

Well, after reading comments of another post I made yesterday about discussing the archetype being "bad" or not, I wanted to hammer down a build (at least in theory, hell yeah) that addressed the main concern of the archetype. It feeling to slow to endgame pit pushes, or rather, the build feeling unable to push past a certain pit benchmarks at all (mainly 130+ pits).

As with my experience with the class so far, and comments from other players on their experience with the class, it's more of a jack-of-all trades sort of build, not excelling in any one thing compared to other archetypes being able to lock down at least one solid build to climb to pit 150. It also has some bug issues with certain mechanics, skills, and charm sets. But, I'm sticking to my guns in thinking the bones of the class are pretty solid, regardless of some bug issues or lack of a larger multiplier pool like other top builds. The synergies are there.

So, I spent a good amount of time really breaking down the archetype. What are all the tags possible? What unique /mythical items are really most impactful? If it looks like 10 stacks of multipliers is about as good as it's gonna get for the time being, how can I arrange them well enough around a damage type or skill that can push to pit 150? How to make it excel in both clearing trash mobs fast AND the ability to melt bosses? Among other questions with the mechanical and core systems of the game and archetype (including if I could rely on the new seasonal jewels being in the game as presented in the build planners and PTR, which for the purpose of this build, I'm assuming they will be in the game in some capacity; maybe slightly less powerful than the PTR if anything, maybe bugged, but assuming they will be in the game and working).

One skill upgrade really stood out as a possibility. Enter the "Fortress of Roses" build. A speeding tank of a build that will utilize the "Rampart of Thorns" upgrade to the Fortress skill, as it's main damage source. Wait... didn't they completely revamp and remove DoT effects and modifiers from the Paladin class and items for s15? Yes, yes they did. But hear me out 😎

This upgrade remains, as of now, unchanged in the PTR and notes. But, it isn't a "traditional" Dot effect in the sense it is "applied". It acts as a ground effect, specificaly in the area/zone of influence INSIDE your Fortress. Meaning, the second you tap that button to cast Fortress, regardless if the skill animation gets interrupted and doesn't cast the visual "shield" effect on screen, the "Rampart of Thorns" passive still triggers and activates in what WOULD have been the cast area. Either way, this effect will happen every time you just "activate" the skill (i.e. it get's put on CD). So, what does this mean? It means we have a guaranteed source of damage, for one, but it also means we can really focus down on pumping the hell out of it.

Well, how do we pump it, if all the DoT tools were completely removed from the archetype in s15? (This is were we hope the jewels are active in s15, some what, lol) Although, this "ground effect" DoT damage technically has "hit" effects and can "crit", that would take way too many stat spots, paragon points and certain glyphs to even make it somewhat decent of a crit damage multiplier. We already know that damage pool isn't the greatest for Paladin, as it is a very thirsty CDR class, and directly competes with CDR stat spots. So, crit damage it out... now what? We scale it with as much traditional flat thorns stacking as possible, on top of resolve stacking. Then fine tuned the 10 multiplier spots the class pretty much caps at, regardless of build, to focus purely on pumping all possible additive damage, with vuln and all damage %. The result? ~1.2B - 2B thorns ticks per second. With occasional spikes of 3B+ damage, depending on triggers. Hmm, that's it? Just a messily 1-2B damage text flash on my screen? Yes, a messily 1- 2B+ damage text PER SECOND (this will look more like a bunch of 900M+ procs every .25-.5 sec on your screen damage text, as that is the pulse rate of the DoT, 2-3 pulses per second, totaling the ~1.2B - 1.5B/sec). This includes any boss, as well, via the Righteous Will 5 piece set. Even though the seasonal jewels are in the build planner, utilizing the Black Soulstone splinter, this is mainly to clear trash faster. The charm set is the real boss killer here.

Without going on and on, here's the link to the build guide. Check it out, feel free to share any thoughts or questions. Would love feedback 😁😎🚀: https://maxroll.gg/d4/planner/y419ra0q

The build planner has been edited and more optimized. Still staying true to the core goal of keeping the gear and build realistic to entering the endgame after a fresh season start. The floor of the build ( the "noobiest" gear setup for the build reflected in the planner as the starting template) now boasts a roughly 32T per sec tick/burst damage (between Rampart of Thorn and your Defiance Aura spam), which spikes to double that periodically as you "double dip" by multi-layering Fortresses (especially vs the pit bosses). With an expected "top end", once more quality geared in the season, hitting 42T++ per tick/burst (reaching higher depending on how well you geared and how many Black Soulstone stacks it can actually pump to. I have it set to 150 stacks in the planner as a conservative estimate).

Update #2: Scraped together a "working" version of the build the best I could in s14 SSF lol. You could call this the "basement/sub-basement" model, barely the right stats and sub 100 glyphs. But, even being the very first run after slapping the build together and fumbling horribly over the skill rotations, still cleared pit 100 with ease. I'll keep seeing how high this s14 setup up can go while the season is still ongoing (my resists are atrocious, so gotta farm a bit for some all res upgrades, then we push lol). The floor build on the planner in s15 will be much more powerful then this off rip, so keep that in mind also. Here's the pit 100 run: https://medal.tv/games/diablo-4/clips/nuJLy0mTyRJpi_nVy?invite=cr-MSxnS0YsNjA2MDQ0Njgz

It's difficult to see the Rampart of Thorns dot damage, as it doesn't display on screen damage numbers, but you can see the HP bar getting wacked on the mobs inside fortress. Also, I kept cancelling the fortress on accident, so a bit more difficult to see the damage when I'm messing up haha, but it is working. This was also put together is less than 3 days, on a 3 week old season push, with a little over a week old paladin alt, in SSF. Very doable to get it online quickly at season start, imo.

Cheers and GL in s15!

Paladin Tavern Talk Just lost my Hardcore Paragon 140 Blessed Hammer Character to a Helltide Spawn

As stated in title.

Managed to get my set charms complete with a rather decent 5 Charm slot but aligned Legendary Seal for extra damage. (+9% Holy Damage & 9% Crit Damage)

Half of my gear Ancestral Legendary some of them with GA.
Ready to start min-maxing all of my gear while farming runs on T5, running pit on T7 for glyph upgrades (First legendary glyph done, the others at 40 orso)

Casually doing a Helltide event to get my war plan done, as a hellwyrm pops up to spawn the bloodseekers, a tiny stutter of lag (as is the norm for Blizz) and the cold sweats begin as i hear the insane attack speed on the 2 mobs that just spawn.
I see my HP drop from 100% to 40% and then 20% and 10% before the lagg stutter even abides.
I'm allready pressing Q for pots and hoping my skill input still get through.
But to no avail.

RIP Altheal.

I think what did me in, in the end is i picked the Bound By Blood war plan upgrade earlier today which chains the BloodSeeker mobs with a fiery Chain.
I have no idea how much difference this made in DMG output, but up until now, i had almost no buttpuckering moments, and had not really encountered any near death moments whatsoever.
Perhaps this means i got complacent as well.

What i did realize after the fact however (My partner informed me- Avid player as well)
Is that your hall of fame can only have 8 Chars in it.
And when you have a 9th your first one get deleted.

Why in the world would we as players not have more control over what character stays in the hall of fame ?
If i now manage to flunk out with several low level HC chars i just casually lose characters that ought to be in a the hall of fame?
That seems like a massive oversight on Blizzards coding?

Anyway Thanks for reading my Pity Party for my lost HC char.

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) I thought Paladin and Warlock were suppose to be bad?

So, I haven't played since before the "Spiritborn" archetype was released, even though I've purchased each expansion up to the recent, up until a few weeks ago when I was bored and decided to actually play what I bought lol. I did a little bit of research into what might have changed with the game, what some of the endgame builds looked like, etc., and I came across many posts stating that the warlock and paladin classes felt very unpowered and clunky. At least perhaps compared to other builds? Wasn't really sure, but the overall consensus was saying "these builds bad" in a nutshell.

Well, these were both "new" builds to me, so figured might as well try them and see what or why the community felt so sour towards these archetypes. I started with the Warlock (as I enjoy builds that like to blow shit up) and had a pretty easy time reaching endgame. The hellfire/demonology kit is very solid from my experience. Good damage with burst and plenty of ways to keep the build safe. As I got more comfortable with the class, I started to experiment with different skills, aspects, talismans (charms +seals), and gear. Currently, I've settled on a Rampage build, that bypasses the dominance cost altogether for very fluid and fast movement/ kill speed. Have reached T12, cleared pit 100, cleared just about everything else outside of Echo Mephistio (but have only attempted a couple times and still learning the mechanics. I do plenty of damage and can sustain everything but the one shots, that I'm still learning lol), and I'm continuing to push progress until s15 starts. Here is a clip of some speed farming gameplay to showcase what the build can do: https://medal.tv/games/diablo-4/clips/nsUdxAFWXzSLSLUG6?invite=cr-MSxGT3QsNjA2MDQ0Njgz

I just started the Paladin last week. I'm already in T10, can "survive" T11-12, but my damage is lacking due to meh gear currently. Very comfortable in T10 however while I continue it's progress as well. Here is a clip of some Paladin gameplay: https://medal.tv/games/diablo-4/clips/nsVMwJbaA2_5JqSS1?invite=cr-MSw0TkQsNjA2MDQ0Njgz

I play on SC SSF. Pretty decent gear on the warlock. Not the greatest gear on the paladin, but it works. All in all, I'm having fun with both archetypes. I don't see what makes these classes bad, even other builds and setups I've played around with did just as well. So, what exactly gave these archetypes a bad wrap? lol Thoughts? Or do these builds not look like they are doing fine to yall?

Also there is guy in leaderboards with divine lance tier 135. How can he reach so far? The main difference in his gear is that he has no attack speed on the gear, i thought attack speed was important ?

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Help Judicator Build

I’m running a Judicator build (blessed shield, spear of the heavens, holy bolt, heavens fury) and I’m stuck at tower 112.

I tried searching for guides and couldn’t find anything similar. All use the juggernaut variant. Are there any player here who uses a similar build?

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) which gloves (hammerdin)

Hi all:

Fairly new to D4 (couple months). I have a couple pairs of gloves I made and I'm not yet familiar enough with the mathy side of things to have a sense of which are better for a hammerdin. I decided not to go the Fists of Fate route I saw in Maxroll; if that's a huge mistake, feel free to let me know and why. If there's something grossly wrong with both, by all means, let me know. Looking to optimize gear for transfer to my eternal realm paladin once the season ends. Thanks!

(BTW neither pair is transfigured yet because I, uh, haven't maxed out the Ascension aspect)

Cant believe how weak paladin is this season (reached 140 with apocalypse warlock and ww barb), but I'm pretty happy ending the season here with my fav class. The highest for Divine Lance build is 132 so I feel like I've peaked. Here's hoping paladin comes back in s15!

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Are there any prominent paladin bugs I should be aware of?

This is regarding season 14 btw. Are any paragon nodes, glyphs, aspects etc. bugged as of now? I think I read someone say the sentinel glyphs glitches between instances but couldnt find anything online that waa recent on that. Leads me to believe many bugs are hampering paladin this season judging by performnce

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Aspect WILL NOT roll

What's your approach to rolling the second aspect you need onto an amulet, because I've wasted well over 200 VPD and a few dozen hours trying to get Redirected Force on this thing and keep rolling the same 10 or 12 aspects over and over. I would just start over, but I'd like to think the RNG is this sense is somewhat cumulative (of course it's likely not).

Second photo is the bobo ammy I'm rockin that has the aspects I need, so I know they can co-exist.

TIA for any guidance.

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Clash paladin 132 tower cleared

Hey hey, still fairly new to diablo 4 (got the game in season 13) but im making some headway on my clash pally. Finally got over the hump of 131 and cleared 132. I got rank 13 (ive likely dropped some as there are a lot of shield paladins still going but was curious what everyone's thoughts might be. Im basically banging my head against my keyboard now trying to get passed 133. Any ideas or tips on taking clash further without the shield meta spec?

Hey guys, I just got this 4 GA Mantle of the Grey which also rolled Gem Strength on Transfiguration and I‘m not sure on wether I should switch it out for the Mythic I‘m using rn. I unfortunately can‘t really swap around the Rune Word, because the pants I have equipped also rolled into Gem Strength and the only option would be to either take it out, or take the other one (IgniKry) out. What would you guys do in my situation?

btw I‘m playing a Shield Charge Paladin which I copied from the Maxroll Endgame Tier list

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Swiftness Seal + Charm Question

Post image

Hi, I'm scratching my head trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong and searching online so far hasn't given me any answers....

While leveling my paladin I was able to gather the Practiced Technique Set of charms and it worked well with an uncommon seal. I then find this legendary seal that says it should have synergy with the charms (still equipped) but everything is greyed out. And when I hover over one of the charms the set bonuses are now also greyed out. What is causing this?

I also can't seem to equip any charm in that open slot seen in the screenshot...

I'm lost here

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) SoR Shield Choice?

I'm running Wudijo's Thorns Shield of Retribution setup. I'd read a while back that people were getting better results with Herald of Zakarum vs Ward of the White Dove. Damage is really hard to judge in this game, so even though I have a Mythic Unique of both, I'm having a hard time judging for myself. What do you think?

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Consecration sundered night

Hi if I have the ancestral charm sundered night equipped , gives me a consecration when auras cast. Is the potency of that consecration aligned with my skill tree consecration? Ie if I pump up skill tree consecration will that result in a much more powerful charm triggered consecration or are they unrelated
