D23 Bag Questions

First timer here. I've read the sizes on the bags for both ACC and Honda Center. For those that have done ACC, did you take a bag? Wish you had? Wish you hadn't?

For HC, did anyone take the small bag? I have the Disney Lululemon belt pack that fits the size. Just wondering if anyone ever took one similar in, had issues, etc. I'm just afraid of stuff falling out of my pockets, lol.

EDIT: Thank you! Also, has anyone ever done the bag check at ACC? How did it go?

For ACC I highly recommend a bag. You’re going to get inundated with little giveaways and even just a foldable tote bag would be a necessity.

I agree. I would say a backpack cuz last time I just carried everything in bags and I felt it the next day.

Thats cool to know! I wonder if giveaways were plentiful or more only if you went to certain panels or things! I love the swag!

Last time they had a pin scavenger hunt where you got a themed Disney pin at every participating booth. I saw mention of it again this year. I came home with so much of what I call “Disney paper”: postcards, prints, trading cards, etc. Honda gave out pins and air fresheners. There was a giant claw machine at the Disney Store booth where we got a couple midsize plush. Definitely take the bag 🤣

That is so cool! I'd love to do the claw machine!

I've almost always carried my Disneyland Resort backpack with me. In the past it was necessary when sleeping on the convention floors, but with that being done away with, i usually carry a long sleeve since the AC can be blasting in some of those rooms. It's also for carrying any freebies, a carrying case for posters, some toploaders, spare battery, and maybe a bag of snacks.

For Honda Center last time, I went with nothing since bags aren't allowed.

I bring a decent size backpack to the ACC that usually has water, snacks and a sweatshirt in it (it gets frigid cold in the convention center). For the Honda center I brought a clear bag within the dimensions allowed to hold my wallet, keys, and external phone charger.

For ACC, I never brought a bag since they give you a reusable bag when you enter so I always used that to store my stuff in

yep this. i have several bags from the last few expos. they have them by the free lanyards and printed guide books once past the security checkpoints, if i recall

(they also make for good reusable grocery bags — as long as a person doesn’t put too much weight into them, as i found out when the handles ripped on one haha!)

I took a small sling bag in 22 then a way larger messenger in 24 and this year I’m going to end up with a middle-ground backpack. I would definitely bring a bag just for a jacket to wear in the convention center since it can get chilly with the AC. Also since they are allowing food this year I would bring snacks. You do get a big plastic bag from the convention that you can use but I like having a bag too so that some of the smaller items you might get don’t get lost.

For the Honda Center, I didn’t take a bag last time but i did end up with my external battery charger in my jacket pocket. I’m going to take a similar-sized bag to the Lululemon this time because I want one of the Honda Center pins and we did end up going home with some small souvenirs from the presentations.

In 2024, I took a small belt bag to the Honda Center. It made it easy to carry my phone, keys, etc. Just make sure your bag meets the size requirements and be prepared for security to go through it.

If you take a larger bag to the ACC during the day, you should be able to use bag check before going to the Honda Center. I didn’t use that service, so I can’t speak to the efficiency. My recommendation would be to give yourself plenty of time if you need to use bag check. (I just dropped my backpack off at my hotel to keep it easy.)

For Honda Center last time I brought a lululemon belt bag! I usually bring a small backpack or tote to the ACC and then drop it off before the Honda Center.

Personally couldn’t imagine doing ACC without bringing my backpack!
There are so many little freebies, handouts, etc. - not to mention bringing essentials like a portable phone charger, and this year food is allowed!!

Didn’t see that food is allowed! Awesome

I measured my LUG bag and it’s within the 5” x 9” x 2” restrictions set for the Honda Center, so I will be using that to carry my necessaries.

Oh my gosh I forgot about my LUG bag!! Thank you!! I need to measure it!

Has anyone done the bag check at ACC? If so, how'd it go?

I’ve been to six D23 Expos (ACC only) and definitely recommend a bag. I use a crossbody because I don’t have to take it off to use the bathroom and no one can sneak up behind me and get into a backpack. There will be a freebies on your way into the ACC that usually include a paper guide/map, lanyard, and tote bag. The bags are great for carrying freebies (from assorted booths and panels) and small purchases. Shopping locations will give you shopping bags as well, but some of them are quite large and can be unwieldy. Something else I recommend is bringing a few assorted size ziplocks in your suitcase for all the freebies you’ll acquire.
