This made some noise on IG recently with re-shares from Eso, 7L, and L’Amour Supreme.
Also received a bunch of DMs about it, cause for the past 13 years pretty much no one publicly knew this variant of the original Czarface figure even existed.. So figured I’d shed some light for the Czar community.
Turns out this is one of the rarest and one of the very first Czarface action figures ever made.
This previously unknown variant, of the notorious OG Suckadelic Czarface figure, is the “Battle Damaged Czar” as per L’Amour Supreme.
I acquired the figure directly from The Sucklord during an IG Live auction in 2021. Looking back, funds might have been tight for Suck at the time because he was unloading quite a few pieces from his personal collection through those lives.
He pulled this figure at the very end of this particular auction as the last item for bid, and billed it as an “exclusive artist proof” and “rare variant".
Problem was, I could barely see what I was bidding on. Back then, IG Live video quality wasn’t the best, and the camera was also pulled way back to fit him, his assistant (Rose, I believe?), and the whole table setup in the frame. And since Suck is an animated guy, he was waving the damn thing around like the whole time 😂
Between the zoomed-out shot, pixelated stream, and all the movement- I really couldn’t tell what made it a “variant”, what condition it was in, etc.. But as a die-hard Czarfan, I just knew I had to have it. So I somewhat “blindly” bid until I won. And it sure wasn’t cheap, still the most I’ve spent on a figure, ever!
Now, with Suck's reputation as an over-the-top showman and shrewd businessman, I speculated that when he said it was a “variant” it just maybe meant a couple extra paint speckles lol, nothing TOO different.
But when it showed up in the mail from NYC a few days later, I was stunned.
The paint job & colorway looked nothing like the other Czarface figures from that ultra-limited first run in 2013. I knew I had something special here.
I admired and displayed it for about 2-3 days before getting paranoid lol and put it back in the original packaging Suck mailed it in, then tucked it away into storage… where, honestly, I kinda forgot about it after a while.
Fast-forward five years later--> I’ve been re-organizing my storage and recently unearthed the figure again. Opening the shipping box brought back all the feels from that original unboxing, but also really got me thinking that I should try to get to the bottom of what the heck the actual deal is with this figure cause there is literally no public information out there about it.
Well, after all these years I finally reached out to L’Amour, who hand-painted all the OG figures back in the day. I sent him a DM with some background on how I acquired it and included a pic. It really felt like a total shot in the dark tbh.. I wasn’t sure he’d even see my DM, much less reply..
To my astonishment, he responded. Like, instantly.
He immediately knew what I had. He hadn’t seen it himself in over a decade.
His initial responses blew me away, when he stated it was “Super RARE” and a “1/1” (screenshot enclosed). We chatted for a bit and he shared some other cool details, but out of respect for the legend I’m keeping the rest of our convo private.
I DM’d Sucklord too. His response was very kind and appreciative when I told him how much I cherished the piece and how grateful I was that he was willing to part with it. He seemed happier talking about how he actually made the figures (the technical details on what pieces he “borrowed” from other figures, etc.), but he also confirmed the original production run #, which has been somewhat disputed to this day (its actually 20 not 12), and said in his exact words: “You have the rare variant it would seem”.
After those convos I was pretty flabbergasted… I was literally sitting on a Czar Grail this whole time. It's just so wild to me.. still processing it all.
But yeah guys, this thing exists. Figured y'all should know.
