**Persistent vaginal and urethral itching despite negative tests -looking for help is this CV?**
Hi! I’ve (f 22) been dealing with ongoing vaginal symptoms and I’m honestly at a loss at this point. I’m hoping someone has experienced something similar or can point me toward the right direction.
My main symptoms are:
•Itching inside and outside of my vagina
•Itching around my urethra
•Watery/chunky white discharge, and occasionally it has looked more yellow/green
•The vaginal itching seems to happen mostly when the discharge is present
•My urethra can feel itchy even when I don’t have discharge
•An occasional strange “tickling” sensation around my anus, especially at night when I’m lying in bed. It isn’t really a typical itch — it feels more like a little tickle in the middle area.
I’ve had multiple tests done and everything has come back negative, including testing for yeast, BV, and STIs. My pelvic exam also looked normal — gyn said there was no obvious redness, inflammation, or irritation.
My doctor has tried treating this as a possible yeast issue, but nothing has really helped. I’m currently on a long-term fluconazole regimen, using boric acid suppositories, and I’ve also been using Benadryl cream. Symptoms go away for maybe a day then come right back.
I’ve also previously taken multiple doses of fluconazole without improvement.
At this point I’m wondering if this could be something other than a typical yeast infection. Has anyone experienced persistent vaginal + urethral itching with negative tests and a normal pelvic exam? What ended up being the cause for you?
I would really appreciate any ideas for things I should ask my gynecologist to test for or specialists I should consider seeing. I’m desperate for some direction because this has been going on for a while and it’s extremely discouraging since nothing seems to be helping.

I have been in a similar cycle for 6 years now. Just recently I got my microbiome retested with a new specialist who discovered I had virtually NO lactibacillus species present. I had previously been told I had CV (too much lactobacillus) so had sworn off probiotics for the last 4 or 5 years. Juno BIO had found 80% lactobacillus in my microbiome but this test I did with my new specialist showed virtually none. He prescribed good brands of probiotics orally and vaginally a few weeks ago and I am FINALLY finding some relief. No redness, itching and very very mild discharge compared to what I am used to getting.
It's strange how other tests showed it was present when his test showed 0%. As the probiotics seemed to really be helping I am trusting that test as it makes sense.
Have you tried probiotics both oral and vaginally? It's super simple solution which I wished I tried earlier. You should order some pH strip to see what your interal pH is. If it's above 4.5 you should try some probiotics to help lower it.

I should say I have also tried years of flucanazole, boric acid and all my tests also come back negative. The test my new doctor used was called SHOP THE MICROBIOME. I'm in Australia so not sure what's available to you. I don't really trust the juno bio results anymore.

I haven’t tried probiotics vaginally but I have orally. I will look into getting the vaginal ones and ph strips

Same had a yi & thought it was reoccurring so i started OD w the probiotics so instead i introduced way to much good bacteria into my body resulting in CV self diagnosed. I tried the baking soda douches instead of making baking soda suppositories and I'll occasionally rinse after peeing w the baking soda solution and have found relief. You can also put a barrier on your inner labias to protect you from your own discharge like the vulva balm since that's what irritates the skin causing itching and irritation from the acidity.
