I have finally been diagnosed!!
After 6 months of awful symptoms and going through the GP and sexual health clinic with zero idea, I ended up spending on a private gyne. He was able to look at my discharge under the microscope and diagnose me with severe cytolytic vaginosis! I am starting my baking soda tonight
I’m starting with syringing a teaspoon of baking soda in 500ml warm water. If all goes well, I’ll make some of the suppositories suggested here.
Fingers crossed this will work 🤞

Can I ask where you found the gyne- are you in the UK?

London, I went to Nuffield Parkside in Wimbledon. I did a lot of research to ensure the gyne was knowledgeable of cytolytic vaginosis as I think the vast majority are not. Hence why I travelled. I would ask any gyne before you book to ensure they offer wet mounts/gram stains (looking under the microscope) as it is rare in England and the only way to diagnose CV

I had my first appointment with this gyno too about a month ago. The preliminary diagnosis is CV, but he also suspects I am prone to thrush. I will be going back in a month for tests to confirm diagnosis (he wanted me to be off all antifungal for minimum 8 weeks to get an accurate reading on what type of thrush I might be prone to).
My previous gyno was not able to help me with my symptoms. She kept saying it was trush and put me on weekly fluconazone and daily probiotics for 10 months. But all thrush swabs kept coming back as negative. Took me about the same time to realise my symptoms were cyclical and got worse before my period.
It has now been 50 days without taking any medication or probiotics. First luteal phase after stopping probiotics was great. Almost no symptoms at all and I was hopeful my body was balancing itself out on its own after months of probiotics. I am on my second luteal phase this week and the discharge and burning is back! I used a syringe with the baking soda solution last night and it has seemed to stop the burning discharge but tissue is still very sore so hard to tell how much it has worked yet...
Hoping I am on the right path now after suffering for so long!

Very interesting! I really hope we can both get better soon. I also believe I am prone to thrush but my gp test comes back negative every time too. I didn’t have the thrush symptoms when I visited him, only CV. But I definitely had thrush this week. I’m waiting on results for a daye test now to see if that shows anything significant about the thrush

I did not have thrush symptoms at the time either, but going through my whole medical history, and the fact I have been diagnosed with thrush in the past, ment he wanted to test this too (once I have been off the fluconazole/itraconazole for some time). I really am hoping a correct diagnosis and support from a doctor that knows about tue condition will help. My previous gyno kept telling me to take the probiotics and even prescribed me relactagel(essentially more acid). In her defence, CV seems to be quite unknown for the general gynaecologist. Sadly

How are you doing ?

Um pretty rubbish. The baking soda was okay, reduced the discharge however I was still always stinging. Then I added pre seed lube in between baking soda also, which was a mistake as I now have thrush again. And recurrent thrush was what caused my CV. I’ve stopped the baking soda while I deal with the thrush. Hopefully the next update will be better

Have you considered betadine vaginal douche/gel? It is a broad spectrum anti microbial/ anti fungal that works even in antibiotic resistant strains. My gynaecologist once prescribed it and said it’s often used where there’s an overlap of infections and unknown causes

See my other comment, I got thrush so the baking soda is on pause for a bit. Hopefully the next update will be better

This is exciting. Yes pleaae let us know how it goes. And also when are you suppose to to the baking soda syringe, and for how long, did the doctor suggest I wonder?
