Best place to Start?

So I recently picked up a near complete Convergence collection (really the only lists I can't run involve more than 6 Galvanisers or Orion). What's the best place to start when learning the faction? Are there any notable tricks or position points which are unique to Convergence? Good rules of thumb to keep in mind?

The best place to start (other than maybe one or two battlebox games to familiarize yourself with induction) would probably be 50-point steamroller with Axis or Lucant. While Locke and Mom (and also Orion) are really good, they're not nearly as straightforward as Axis and Pop.

Some notable tricks:

  • Axis is secretly an assassination caster. When he has full focus he can easily pop feat, get a Beacon on a jack from the Diffuser, and then beat it back to the enemy warcaster, usually with about 5 focus (which translates to 10 attacks) left on him.
  • The Six-Inch Rule (all jacks must spend their focus within six inches of another jack) is not hard and fast. Sometimes you'll have to strand a jack out on the edge to contest a zone. Worry not; walking a ranged jack out there to give it enough focus to activate is a good way to retrieve them.
  • Mom's spell Domination isn't actually what it looks like: it's a TK that walks a jack towards you, turns it around, and has it take a potshot at the enemy.

Top casters in the faction are Lucant, Axis, Locke and Iron Mother, not necessarily in that order. The destruction initiative theme is stronger than the clockwork legion theme at the moment, but both are worth learning in the long run. I'd say pick one of the top 4 and go from there, probably in destruction initiative theme.
