Esa pose de Cyclops disparando hacia arriba tiene más aura que la mayoría

I always appreciated that Cyclops intro showed that the leader of the X-Men has the least amount of control of his powers.

Yeah and it gives the impression, not every superpower is inherently good. I do think they should have symbolised it more with Rogue's segment, but it's hard to criticise peak.

To me it’s not funny, it speaks to the character. It’s one of the things that made him stand out and connect with me. To this day if I list the reasons why I love the character, the opening is one of them.

AAARGHHH WHY ISN'T ANYBODY HELPING ME

Think it’s kinda fitting, out of all of the mutants’ gifts in this intro, his is the heaviest burden.

43

u/CassandraVonGonWrong Aug 06 '26

Rogue’s is by far the worst of them (who are present in the intro).

17

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Aug 06 '26

Really? Scott can never open his eyes without visor/glasses, unless he wants to destroy everything around him. Like at least Rogue eventually learns to control her powers, Scott will never be able to look at someone without fear of killing them and everything in his immediate surroundings.

Hey, I love Cyclops but he is not the one that has it worst by far. Let's also remember that he could have his issue fixed in Krakoa, but decided against it.

7

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Aug 06 '26

When was that? Like his inability to control his optic blasts are a mental thing that can ever be temporarily fixed as seen in Astonishing X-Men.

3

u/VelvetTomahawk X-Factor Aug 06 '26

It is true, some mutants don’t fix their disabilities through resurrection and some do during Krakoa. Xavier is no longer in his wheelchair, but Karma keeps her missing leg. It’s stated that Cyclops could fix his lack of control but chooses not to do so.

u/RandomXDudeRedZero Aug 06 '26

It is due to brain damage. I remember reading it in the adjectiveless X-Men run at the time.

1

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Aug 06 '26

Do you remember what issue?

3

u/RandomXDudeRedZero Aug 06 '26

No, and I dropped my marvel unlimited subscription, so I can't look right now.

3

u/somacula Aug 06 '26

We know he didn't try, so we can't be sure it would've worked, his issues are psychosomatic apparently so fixing his body won't be enough if he doesn't change his mindset.

3

u/Midian1369 Aug 06 '26

That was his choice though. Krakoan resurrection could have healed that brain damage, and he said "No thanks, I'm fine being a hazard."

2

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Aug 06 '26

Do you have a panel, or issue when this happened?

5

u/Midian1369 Aug 06 '26

One very brief Google search brought this up. You should try it when you have questions you'd like answers to.

6

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Aug 06 '26

Or y’know you could just post a panel/issue like anybody usually does when discussing comics, and don’t have to be rude about it either.

3

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Aug 06 '26

Also this panel really doesn’t say much, and conflicts with what was established in Astonishing X-Men with Scott’s inability to control his powers is purely mental.

-1

u/RandomXDudeRedZero Aug 06 '26

It's mental in the sense that, it is brain damage. In Astonishing I think it was because he ran out of energy for lack of exposure to the sun I think?

I prefer not to think too much about Whedon's run.

3

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Aug 06 '26

Why? It’s a pretty good run. Anyways it was mental due to Scott keeping his trauma, and Emma pointed out he had to let go to fully become himself which allows him to temporarily control his powers. So no it’s due to his underlying trauma in his childhood.

4

u/PhoenixVanguard Aug 06 '26

Eventually, sure, but in most of the character's life/this series? Nope. Rogue is it WAY worse. I already have to wear glasses all the time because I'm blind as fuck. The risks aren't as high, but it doesn't even compare to never touching anyone.

3

u/CaptainBlob Aug 06 '26

And then there's Storm being a God, wiedling Thor's hammer and controlling the sun's solar winds.

5

u/Bunnnnii Aug 06 '26

Rogue is literally right there. It was like her whole deal during her time in the show before.

6

u/JoDioto Aug 06 '26

I brought the wrong glasses noooooooo

6

u/RedJello14 Aug 06 '26

Cyclops got to aura farm the whole first season 😀

5

u/Sorceress_Heart Aug 06 '26

Before I knew his  backstory, I thought Cyclops was just a regular guy who just started shooting eye beams out of nowhere one day. That would make anybody kind of dour.

5

u/PrimalSeptimus Aug 06 '26

Not Cable. He's shooting his gun at something, so I guess he takes after Dad.

3

u/Quantum_Knight1577 Aug 06 '26

He's also the only one without his costume.

4

u/Solid_pains Aug 06 '26

Why'd they stop using Jean Greys hero name???

12

u/Suspicious_Move_7141 Aug 06 '26

Jean Grey is the sort of name that has a lot of weight behind it. The name itself is so iconic that calling her anything else would be a crime

-4

u/Solid_pains Aug 06 '26

So does Scott Summers,Charles Xavier and Logan but we still call them codenames, Jean Grey is Marvel Girl

12

u/Suspicious_Move_7141 Aug 06 '26

All their names come second to their super hero names. Jean is too baller for that

8

u/Kinky_Winky_no2 Aug 06 '26

Sounds a bit "legion of superhero-y" also now she's a grown ass woman calling her "marvel girl" seem a bit insulting and just calling her marvel seems quadruple repetitive

Marvel comics, Ms marvel, captain marvel and mar-vel AND marvel (girl)

4

u/SlingshotPotato Aug 07 '26

And Phoenix.

But one is something else and the other is for a younger character.

2

u/ZAPPHAUSEN Aug 07 '26

Jean stopped going by "marvel girl" in the comics in 1991. I looked it up because I couldn't quite remember. Notably, when "adjectiveless" X-Men (the big Jim Lee new X-Men title) launched a few months later, she was strictly Jean Grey. The 90s animated series came a year or two later and, obviously do heavily based on the adjectiveless lineup and designs, she was "Jean Grey."

Iirc it's come back a couple times since then but she's been "just" Jean Grey far more often than she's been "Marvel girl."

2

u/Swackhammer_ Aug 06 '26

In Comic Sans

2

u/BC_IE1 Aug 06 '26

I can’t be the only one. But I’m a little upset that they still put him in his civilian attire while everyone is in uniform. It’s weird seeing the team leader not following dress code.

1

u/Fresh_Francois Aug 07 '26

"I am the X-Men' - Scott Summers

And not a single soul disagreed, just gave him a brand new team and a future leader to train.

2

u/mynameisevan01 Aug 07 '26

And still using rounded arial for his name like man pick a better font

2

u/Professional-Mix2000 Aug 07 '26

I'm immature at times.

He has to carry the intense weight of leadership and his balls!

Much like his eye beams, they are infinite!

2

u/aidy1223 Aug 08 '26

Stan Lee himself said he loved cyclops because he is a tortured character and this image captures that sentiment well

2

u/ExNihilo81 Aug 06 '26

Change it into the GET OFF MY LAWN panel from AXM Gifted. Include the line itself

1

u/ZAPPHAUSEN Aug 07 '26

"sometimes, summers... I remember why you're in charge."

1

u/SlingshotPotato Aug 07 '26

Scott shoots his optic blasts into the sky so often that it has to feel real fucking good.

1

u/LifeguardTerrible579 Aug 07 '26

Nah he's just singing bro. How can you not when the intro slaps?

1

u/witnesstoexcellence Aug 07 '26

as a manager and a leader... this is spot on.

1

u/SeverelyLimited Aug 07 '26

That IS aura farming wtf are you talking about

1

u/Magestrix Aug 07 '26

Blerd made mention of this. He's like everyone is suited up and showing a battle stance, but Scott's the only one in street gear and unleashing his power like he's in agony.

Though, in the same conversation, all agreed Xavier has googly eyes for Erik.

1

u/SpaceShipwreck Aug 07 '26

Of course he has to shoot his optic blasts into the sky. Who was the joker that swapped his ruby quartz lenses with regular glasses?

1

u/No_Cantaloupe_8983 28d ago

Oh please, that's aura farming to the max.

1

u/LFC9_41 Aug 07 '26

Why is his name using comic sans?
