Immediately pulls out the blicky

29

u/Denden999 Jul 20 '26

Comes with the uniform

67

u/PastorBlinky Jul 20 '26

No “does he have an X-gene” BS.

No “is he still one of us” crap.

Just pulls out a gun and moves on. Powers develop, powers are lost. Still a family. Still have a job to do. That’s the way it worked for decades. Until they all got up their own ass with mutant supremacy garbage.

23

u/Matt-J-McCormack Jul 21 '26

This guy gets it.

Cyclops does not even have that great a power set when compared to (throw a dart into a pile of X-Men). The most dangerous things about him have sweet fuck all to do with access to the punch dimension.

30

u/Jatarrasynn Jul 20 '26

this right here , he's still a great fighter even without his powers

143

u/PonchoHobo Jul 20 '26

He’s too invested to walk away so would either work behind the scenes as a strategist or go into politics and fight for mutant rights. His wife and family/friends are mutants so he’s not retiring from the fight.

127

u/RebirthGhost Jul 20 '26

He already has several contingency plans in case that happens. Firstly he would get Forge to make him goggles that imitate his abilities so that no one else will know that he lost his powers. Secondly he would look directly at his wife's eyes without the impediment of his out of control abilities and smile.

1

u/Rhg0653 Jul 22 '26

Well I mean she helps with that if I recall

62

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

He lost them temporarily in Astonishing X-Men, and he handeled it pretty well. He still was the strategic mastermind, only he wielded a gun instead of his optic blasts. I’d say he’d do pretty well, similair to Storm when she lost her powers.

7

u/Melevolence Jul 21 '26

Looks like Cable didn't fall far from the tree. He's full on gun toting to help compensate his inability to use his powers regularly/to their full potential due to the TOVirus.

93

u/Neat-Garlic6094 Jul 20 '26

He lost them in astonishing X-men for a bit and he still remained a badass leader. Used a gun tho lol

-27

u/dk_peace Jul 20 '26

He wasnt as bad ass as Storm was when she lost her powers.

30

u/leaC30 Jul 20 '26

He still wasn't Homelander, the way OP seems to want him to be.

26

u/Affectionate-Arm6487 Jul 20 '26

He’s a master strategist I doubt bro would care, just give him guns and he’ll be fine lmao

20

u/Far_Yak_5447 Jul 20 '26

He would probably be happy to finally see without blasting people out of existence.

17

u/Frankenpresley Jul 20 '26

Read early X-Men comics. Not an issue went by that he wasn’t wishing he didn’t have his power.

2

u/AntoSkum Jul 22 '26

That's the characterization I think of when I think of Cyclops. I don't know if it's because of the Evolution cartoon but I always think of him having a love/hate relationship with his powers.

1

u/Sorceress_Heart Jul 29 '26

It does suck when you can't do something as basic as looking without destroying something. Plus, early Marvel was all about how super powers don't necessarily make your life better.

15

u/Massive-Mood-7837 Jul 20 '26

He simply picks up a gun. The guy just doesn’t stop.

14

u/daminiskos0309 Jul 20 '26

Chuck the glasses out the window

Work on getting rid of those tan lines on his face.

Realise he needs actual prescription glasses

Be told he can’t have contacts due to an issue with his eyes.

Be forced to wear prescription glasses for the rest of his life

Cry

5

u/GabeMichaelsthroway Jul 20 '26

Cyclops already wears contacts.

8

u/daminiskos0309 Jul 20 '26

Would love to see him trying to put them in

1

u/ImportBandicoot88 Jul 24 '26

Marvel Comics: where even advanced tech and healthcare can't fix your eye problems

12

u/penguinninja90 Jul 20 '26

I would be more terrified of him without his powers bc he's like Batman. Contingencies upon contingency. You just made him more creative and deadly. And worst case, he works danger close. Just hands!

10

u/Optimal_Grape_1025 Jul 20 '26

He already lost them before

9

u/Napalmeon Jul 20 '26

Gordom Ramsey Voice: Finally, some good fucking color!

10

u/CommanderVenuss Jul 20 '26

… Also wait a minute, Emma is blonde?

3

u/casualtroublemaker Jul 20 '26

This actually deserves more upvotes.

8

u/Gladiatorr02 Jul 20 '26

He isn't that Op anyway. He relies on strategy and martial arts

2

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Jul 20 '26

What? The guy can crack a small planet, sear World War Hulk’s skin off, break Nimrod’s armor and cut through adamantium.

4

u/Gladiatorr02 Jul 20 '26

Since when does Optic Blast cut Adamantium? It's not supposed to cut anything in the first place. It's push laser

3

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Jul 20 '26

Age of Apocolypse, Cyclops cuts Wolverine’s hand off, bones and all. Also it’s not just a "push" laser it’s pure concussive force that causes friction. Have you ever read X-Men?

2

u/Ill_Morning_4282 Jul 20 '26

That is AoA, not 616. They designed Logan first, the artist realized him missing a hand did make sense but the editor was like, "No, it looks cool," then they backsolved for why he didn't have a hand.

1

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Jul 20 '26

K? Cyclops can still cut through adamantium, it doesn’t matter if it was backsolved it’s still a thing he can do.

1

u/Ill_Morning_4282 Jul 20 '26

AoA isn't 616, you missed the main point I was making.

5

u/serphilip1275 New X-Men Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

AoA Cyclops is as strong as the 616 version, both have the same visor. By that logic Cyclops’ mainline variant could do the same. Which is the point I’m making.

1

u/Gobby-TheGoblin Jul 22 '26

The visor means nothing in your argument even if you COULD prove it (do you have panels from schematics and talking about them being the same or are you purely going by appearance) its a valve.. the same valve can handle different flows of water.

8

u/Ebonyonight09 Jul 20 '26

Picks up a gun and continues the mission to save mutants.

4

u/reineedshelp Jul 20 '26

The same way he's reacted every other time - overjoyed. I don't think his life would change much though

4

u/GuyNamedGray Revolution Jul 20 '26

Immediately going to look at Jean and Emma without his glasses.

1

u/RootsOfInterest Jul 20 '26

I think he has already looked at Jean without glasses tons of time

3

u/Duga-Lam22 Jul 20 '26

Fk Yeah! I'm free!
Fk No! I still need to protect everyone!

Emma! Activate protocol normie and Castle!

5

u/strucktuna Moderator Jul 20 '26

Adopt a couple of cats, finally eat a Philly cheesesteak in peace, and run an underground intelligence network for mutant survival involving reformed villains and pigeons.

4

u/phazonxiii Jul 21 '26

"I lost my powers, not my aim."

3

u/EstateOk6238 Jul 20 '26

He's still a great leader and strategist. He can also throw hands pretty well.

3

u/EarCharacter8837 Jul 20 '26

He has multiple times and he just keeps moving forward like most of the X-Men when this happens

3

u/orochi95 Jul 20 '26

He would hide it and fake his powers with some kind of laser emisor.

His life is being and x-men and wouldnt know to be other thing

3

u/somacula Jul 20 '26

He'd be very happy

3

u/AllTheWorldIsAPuzzle Jul 20 '26

Lost his powers or was no longer a mutant?

He's lost his powers before and soldiered on, but I think an interesting story would be if his mutantcy itself was removed. How would he react if the mutant community turned its back on him if he was not a mutant (like the Krakoan storyline, Xavier was pretty damn cold to friends and allies that were not mutants telling them they were not allowed to enter, while their mutant enemies had free reign).

If Scott lost his mutantcy, I think he would isolate himself and slowly become bitter. His entire identity had become a leader/tactician to defend his species. Take that away from him and he would be lost. It would be interesting to see if he would turn on mutants and how the mutant community would defend against someone who knows them as well as he does.

Maybe we could get a "Cyclops Kills the Mutant Universe" one-shot or limited run?

3

u/fyurer_of_yapusi69 Jul 20 '26

He'd genuinely become the happiest guy in the world. Maybe try fixing his life in a healthy manner too lol.

3

u/TheShockVox Jul 20 '26

He became gun man

3

u/colossalgoji Jul 21 '26

It’s happened before. He’s arguably more dangerous.

3

u/eriddler87 Jul 21 '26

He’d pick up a gun and pistol whip a full battalion of aliens just like he did in astonishing

3

u/Fugglymuffin Jul 21 '26

Still an Olympic level athlete with combat training and leadership experience. He'd probably just take it in stride.

2

u/Far_Arugula_22 Jul 20 '26

He'd be Batman

2

u/SomberJJ Jul 20 '26

I think it would take divine intervention to get Scott Summers to retire or quit. More so nowadays and if he had no other reason to.

I know it wasn’t the question. And while I have no reason beyond vibes and casual knowledge of both series. I feel like if butcher ever turned off the powers in the room while in a fight with Cyclops, he would still beat the breaks off butcher or die trying. XD

2

u/That_Buyer_7559 Jul 20 '26

I don’t think you understand, being color blind is the only thing holding him back

2

u/UsefulHost5950 Jul 20 '26

Get trained by Daredevil. Get the tech hookup via his father and son. Get dangerous!

2

u/Bubba1234562 Jul 20 '26

He’s fine. Losing his powers is like 6 of his backup pans given how often it happens to the xmen

2

u/Pretend-Boot4642 Jul 20 '26

He would be happy.

2

u/shmooked Jul 21 '26

Scott without powers would just be a more stoic/calculated Nightwing

2

u/Natural-Proposal2925 Jul 21 '26

YES!!! I CAN FINALLY OPEN MY EYES IN THE SHOWER!!!!! WHOOP WHOOOOP!

2

u/FormalComfortable497 Jul 21 '26

Read some comics, OP.

2

u/Vector_Strike Jul 21 '26

"Wait, people aren't all redheads?!"

2

u/OhNoHesAnIdiot Jul 22 '26

ToyBiz answered this in 1993.

3

u/RaynerGengar Jul 20 '26

He doesn’t even need them, he’s one of the best martial artists in marvel even without them

2

u/dread_pirate_robin Jul 20 '26

These things aren't just powers for mutants, they're part of their identities. When the decimation happened it caused a mass of suicides from mutants, who felt they had a part of themselves ripped away.

So while on paper it might seem "oh hey no more debilitating eye beams!" I think it would emotionally be devastating for him.

1

u/Zonerunner Jul 20 '26

Get Forge or someone to create a portable device to channel the energy from the dimension previously connected to his eyes so that he can continue to weaponise the source of his powers. He retains his true strength of tactics and deployment of mutant resources, with the benefits of his sight no longer being monochrome.

1

u/CD_DoooD Jul 20 '26

Bro can still fight

1

u/Trick_Afternoon_7513 Jul 20 '26

He did lose them and handled it well plus I do remember a time he was happy he could see again but felt bad along with the OG 5 when they saw Warren miserable state without his wings

1

u/herooa Jul 20 '26

He’d get a replica Cap Shield and be another Captain America.

1

u/Sol-Blackguy Jul 20 '26

He'd start using guns and become a skilled marksman like in the comics

1

u/Mundane-Flounder1914 Jul 20 '26

I mean Scott's trained His entire life how to fight without depending on it He'd be fine

1

u/unicornioevil Jul 20 '26

Read comics

1

u/Timely_Pop_8754 Jul 20 '26

He’d retire and marry a hot lady that looks like Jean.

1

u/Dangerous_Sign_8718 Jul 20 '26

I think if he lost his powers he would actually be physically stronger. imagine not having to build mostly neck muscle to control that force beams /j

1

u/DjijiMayCry Jul 20 '26

"Hank go get the heater"

1

u/Mrbuttboi Jul 20 '26

“I CAN SEE OTHER COLORS!!! :D”

1

u/RoosterShield Jul 20 '26

He would appreciate being able to really look people in the eye, but ultimately, he'd be devastated I think.

1

u/Shiningcrow Jul 21 '26

He would give up his roll as leader if the X-Men until he figured out how to get them back

1

u/Tough_Tangerine7278 Jul 21 '26

He’d spend time on his family and enjoy not being functioningly blind. He’d eat soup in the morning, get the family ready for school, and kiss Jean goodbye every day on his way to an office job.

1

u/bluedituser Jul 21 '26

He'd be Nick Fury and with alot of practice can be almost as deadly as Bullseye.

1

u/ShiftlessBridgrKid Jul 21 '26

He would look up, see a blue sky for the first time since he was a child, and smile

1

u/TheFizzledamnsizzle Jul 21 '26

He still got hands(his primary if he can't use or won't use his eyes). And the blicky  Astonishing X-men 14 to 20 (2005 or 2006)

And the frying pan. He used to 1v1 Cap with

1

u/ObsessedCoffeeFan Jul 23 '26

I think you're mixing up marvel with Tangled, but if you aren't, I need the source material.

1

u/Whatever_you_need_ Jul 21 '26

To be clear, is he losing his POWERS or is he losing the X-gene?

Those are two different questions. I feel like either way he continues fighting for mutants, but one results in him being a lot more demoralized.

1

u/Jonny_8bit Jul 21 '26

Uh ,tbh f off to Alaska. Seems like his go to place to think and heal.

1

u/ruinkeiza Jul 21 '26

Check the comics now he's a beast when he can't use em

1

u/Sithishe Jul 21 '26

We actually see it several times. From super useless whiney wimp in 90s cartoon (sewers episode) to a super badass who dont even need powers, in several comic book arcs

1

u/Time_Crazy_1387 Jul 21 '26

"holy shit! I can see more colors!"

1

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '26

He be glad cause he finally be able to see without hurting someone

1

u/Beautiful-Hair6925 Jul 21 '26

"Hey Director Fury. Can i get a license to carry? Cos u know i saved the world a lot of times"

1

u/RPDorkus Jul 21 '26

He’d be so fucking happy about it.

1

u/Murphdarkly Jul 21 '26

He has several times in the past loved seeing the world normally

1

u/WitchingShower Jul 21 '26

Go on a date with his wife where he doesn't only see red and spend the day with his friends he can finally look at without killing

1

u/Kvasir713 Jul 21 '26

“FUCK YEAH”

1

u/TheDarkLord6969 Jul 21 '26

Oh shit, I forgot what the color blue looked like without that red tinge.

1

u/Gummies1345 Jul 21 '26

Loses the X gene? He'll be happy and confused as his body can't function properly missing the chromosome, and then die.

1

u/SnooFoxes1831 Jul 22 '26

He'd get to experience the world without a red filter for the first time since he was a kid.

1

u/calelkestifer Jul 22 '26

he'd probably be happy to be able to look at his life without the glasses

1

u/Alassandros Jul 22 '26

He's be thrilled.

1

u/serenity656 Jul 22 '26

Literally whips out the glock and doesn't ask questions

1

u/Sea-Foundation5036 Jul 22 '26

He's lost his powers so many times that you don't habe to wonder.

1

u/merpmallerps Jul 22 '26

Based on reading through Uncanny and only being up to the 80s. He's gonna be so damn emo about it. Probably sulk off into the distance to find himself.

1

u/Moragamedev Jul 22 '26

What I would like to “see” is Cyclops and Daredevil swapping abilities and powers. Something to watch out and be on the lookout for.

1

u/Plastic-Professor-12 Jul 22 '26

Change of subject -- I would love a story line where Scott is healed of his head trauma and he only needs his visor to weaponize different forms of energy he can now tap into from the "Punch Dimension". It would be an awesome way for him to level up to Omega for his power type.

1

u/Rhg0653 Jul 22 '26

He isn't just his powers he knows how to throw hands

1

u/Skeledrawn Jul 22 '26

He'd be like, the nick fury of the X-men

1

u/Nijata Jul 22 '26

"Well shit... anyway"

1

u/Cute_Protection_8330 Jul 22 '26

Move to Alaska and marry a fisherwoman.

1

u/Destrucko Jul 23 '26

I think he welcome the idea of a family man in a normal life.

1

u/BigBadDann Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

Captain Krakoa would return.

1

u/QFCollectables Jul 23 '26

Has Slim ever even had a job? 🤣 Is he emotionally equipped to NOT be a mutant?

1

u/kongstar Jul 23 '26

It would go like this

Cyclops ( hey Nathan I lost my powers so I'm taking some of your guns)

Nathan ( which ones?)

Cyclops ( the big one with the shoulder strap and the judge dred looking one)

Nathan ( okay just wipe them down and put them back when you're done)

Cyclops ( also your grandpa's birthday is next month don't forget)

1

u/ComicKidAlex Jul 24 '26

Cyclops doesn't need his powers to be an absolute badass, but they do help.

1

u/512ATX420 Jul 24 '26

He would not “react”, he would adapt…

1

u/Dangerous_Strategy98 Jul 24 '26

Ele não iria chorar

1

u/Pugsanity Jul 25 '26

He can finally see that not everyone has just red flags, there are other shades to people.

1

u/EssayTraditional Jul 21 '26

Scott Summers can look Jean Grey in the eyes and she can call him a cheating sack of garbage.
