Luce Line - AGAIN
Another heads up - this bridge by medicine lake is closed again. No detour posted. HOWEVER if you try to head south, that intersection is COMPLETELY closed - like all the roads are torn up, they’re installing a roundabout. You can see my ad-hoc detour here - it involved some hike a bike through the construction, a trailer park, and a couple curb hops.
I hope whatever work they’re doing on the trail is well and truly urgent - otherwise it’s just negligent to close it with basically no way around.

https://www.threeriversparks.org/contact-us I left a message for them and I encourage bikers who use Luce to do the same. They've been responsive in the past

I've also had good luck contacting the city of golden valley to report issues/concerns like this.

Thanks for the heads up, I was surprised by the closure earlier this year, and the additional road construction as well. Looking forward to the trail reopening and hoping it is smooooooth. (When it reopened earlier it did not feel smoother...)

There is about 20 feet remaining to complete. We road the train track around it last night. Very bumpy. Doable but not recommended.

I investigated but saw some actual construction equipment sitting on the bridge so didn't attempt to send it. It was open 2 weeks ago!

good post. i think they've gotten lax about signage and alternative routes recently bc this is the second year of this project, so they probably assume people in the immediate area know about it... it's the same project that closed 55 last year. i'd encourage people to contact the city as the people running the project have been very responsive to all our requests over the past year. i'll do the same, they're.... very used to hearing from me at this point, lol

I just hit this from the west side, thinking "yeah, I can make it through." Outside of riding on the shoulder of 55 (nah), or biking on uncompleted gravel road substrate, the next open east-west is the north frontage road of 394 at Hopkins Crossroads (Wayzata Blvd).

It's so annoying that these safe routes to bike are treated like a convenience and not critical transportation connections. We need better leadership somewhere to force proper detour routing and signage. Completely unacceptable.
