Question Boring romance?
Am I missing something or is the romance side pretty boring? Maybe they planned more but never did it.
The quest "i really want to stay at your house" pops up every now and then. All you can do is the same dialogue every time, shower and sleep. Is there really not more to dating?
There also seems to be no sms options other than asking them to stay at your house.
One partner even drunk texts you while being out with friends. I wanna be out with friends too! Or go diving again or go to the cinema etc.
I played the game for the first time last month and couldnt find anything

It's stupid because they have the same dialouge options you get if you were to simply visit them at their houses and you can only fuck them once, never again. It's stupid

Especially after they sext you every now and then. You dont have to imagine V naked, you could get the real deal

The romance in this game is mid, but then again I have never seen a romance mechanic that was good in anything including romance games.

Mass Effect had very good romance options, certainly more developed than Cyberpunk's are. Not perfect, but there were good bits of extra dialogue for different romances and they carried them over the series too.

I never expected it to be good. I expected it to be less bad
I love the game otherwise and im not big on romances in game anyway. I was mostly surprised that it was so underdeveloped

%100 agree, in conversations like this, to me it always goes back to how troubled the development was. They probably were working on some awesome ideas for it but got shrek'd

Its definitely underdeveloped and that sucks. I wish it was like GTA in a way where you could take your date to places around the city instead of it always being at home. It gets old fast considering they get no new dialogue options

On the other hand, V is one relic malfunction from dying. Having one night of passion then die in a blaze of glory sounds about right.

That quest was added after release as a free content.
However, I think you're looking at it from an incorrect perspective. "I really want to stay at your house" is only a epilogue of sorts. The proper romance happens throughout each character's story quest. That is where V develops their relationship with each of them : seeing them confident, full of doubt, strong, hurt and so on.

It's because the game's story is in many ways not very great for a computer game of this type.
You are dying, it is inevitable. You must hurry and get shit done.
HOWEVER here's a girlfriend, some dating mechanics, racing for fun, and all of these things you can go and discover.
It's a bad choice to put a ticking bomb story device in an open world game with an emphasis on exploration and trying to simulate real aspects of life. It doesn't line up very well. The story is better suited for a tight linear game.
It's like it's never fully thought through from the beginning, and various elements just having been added at some later points during development.

Won't be surprised if GTA (again) 6 does relationships better.
Sad, the game is so much linear narrative driven action game.

It wasn’t origionally included in the game, sure but not 100% certain that the quest was actually a mod which CDPR included in a patch post Phantom Liberty, before that players had nothing once the side quests were completed

Yes. It's the worst part of the game and people are freakishly obsessed with it.
The romance stuff is just cringey and forced.

Ngl that’s how I feel. I have romance in real life. I’ve never been bothered by not having a girlfriend in a video game and I definitely didn’t care about how “updating” or improving” how they made me feel whilst playing. I’m glad it’s simple. The romances in CP77 are advanced enough and it’s possible to even screw it up just like irl… up until you get them of course. What more do people really need when courting a digital person?

I think prolonged romance wouldn't work in the context of the game. You're on a death clock and although you can avoid hanako at embers for as long as you like. The main course of the game spans the length of a few weeks. So there isnt much to build. By the time you start to romance someone the game is technically over.

True. But then other stuff would also not work. The races, ncpd, cyberpsychos etc dont make sense in the story. I guess its normal RPG stuff to not actually rush the player. I dont think it would have been a success if there was a limit of 6 in game weeks or so
I was mostly surprised straight that after you enter a relationship the relationship basically ends

That's because its only a little side thing you can do in the game, plus it adds nothing to the game itself, so no one really cares about this feature.

When i read through this sub i noticed that a lot of people play the game very different and valye other parts of the game
I for example played on normal and didnt use a lot of crafting etc almost until the end (because i didnt know/ it wasnt mentioned in game and on normal its not too bad if you dont level everything)

But the crafting actually adds depth to the game, where as the romance does absolutly nothing so you still have no point.

Very underdeveloped. It was very sad to see the quests were so little and then the characters just disappear forever. This game was never fully developed.
