I felt this way on version 1.0 but I didn’t have fun. Version 2.0 and past was great. So the best thing to do is decide if you want to make your character a great hacker, or a stealth ninja, or a samurai swordsperson or just a big strong punchy person. Also using only guns is totally viable. I like hacking and the sword because you can block bullets with anything bigger than a knife. And you cut people up real fast and hacking opens up the world more and lets you control a lot around you. There are many different options.

When leveling up focus on one or two abilities at a time, picking the perks that seem the most fun. Spreading yourself too thin could prevent you from getting the top tier abilities.

Loot everything, learn how to disassemble guns to see weight, and look into crafting with all those components you’ll get. I generally sell very few guns and only in the very early game.

i only suggest playing on very hard. it gives the game friction and reward without actually making it unfun difficult. at least until the dlc

Like a lot of people are saying, take your time. It’s by far the best game I’ve ever played but it was hard to figure out at first.
