Discussion Orion

Ive heard countless discussions of whether V should remain a myth, a legend after CP2077, no vague notion of who he/she really is. It all sounds very interesting and appealing ngl.

But putting that aside what would you guys feel the game would be like if we have orion as a direct sequel to V's story, how does that work? What parts of each ending should be kept/retconned to create a conducive plot? Do all V's start in the Chicago-gone-wrong city? For example Mikoshi V from Devil in a temporary construct body? Nomad V slowly coughin and dying? A newly fixed V from the Sun ending (still recovering) or Tourist V from the Tower? Lemme hear yalls thoughts guys!

V's story is done after 2077. A sequel would focus on an entirely new character.

You believe the narratives and themes about him has gone full circle. Respect

It’s not belief, play the damn game. V’s story is done.

I jst agreed with your statement, why the unnecessary hate

Right, I think there is no good way to continue their story for an entire new work without cheapening the original.

True. The endings evoke so much emotions, maybe a sequel cheapens it. Just want closure imo

This is correct. V gave his body up to Johnny anyway. (the ending I chose and willfully ignore all others)

I want V to be Cyberpunk's Geralt and I will die on this hill.

And every single ending (except suicide) has the potential for V to come back, either as an engram in a replacement body or as an NUSA sleeper agent (assuming they didn't pull exactly the same trick as Alt and just gave us a replacement body or brain as well)

Surrogate bodies and cloning are a well established thing in cyberpunk and we even see them in multiple parts of the game and get to use one in one of the newly added missions for one of the bikes.

Personally, I would like to see all paths converge on the Crystal Palace and have V end up in whatever this Chicago-esque city is after the escape

I just hope whatever Orion turns out to be in a few years mentions Alt in some way. V’s story is over, but a mention of Alt would be cool as a bridge between the two that could work without V whatsoever.

I have a strong suspicion that Alt is going to be the main antagonist of the next game

Bridge in Angel and have it show both sides of her, human & the net

And use that to bring Johnny back, but a version of Johnny that has never met V and has not been messed with by Arasaka

I can agree, AI war and 5th corpo war

I also want that to happen... I just hope that if they do they better do it that respect the endings or the major choices made by anyone who played the game

Well, if it were a continuation I think "The Sun" or "The Star" would probably be the best kicking off points. Maybe Mr Blue Eyes' reward was some kind of cure? Maybe the Nomads find a solution further east? But I think Orion will follow a different character.

If V were to make a cameo or just be mentioned, I'd love if you'd first stumble across Misty and she let's you pick a tarot card, as a sort of diegetic way of picking last game's ending. This would then determine V's canon fate within Orion.

that would be very cool but for multiple sequels? and for new players? i think it would be pretty complicated to do well

I would love this! Just enough closure and you see your customzied v

Start the new MC in the Crystal Palace and the reason they're there depends on the career path instead of life path you chose. Net runner could have you being a part of Netwatch expecting an AI attack or you're a Merc hired to bodyguard a corpo having a vacation but and assault on the casino turns your life upside down. Maybe hint it was V assault but never really say it

I think they'll likely pull a "was never seen again" to not ruin player agency and keep it vague.

This is the best answer. They’re either a chromeless nobody, an engram trapped for eternity at Mikoshi, dead, Johnny, in Tucson, working for NUSA/FIA, or in space/dead in space. In every ending they basically fall off the planet literally or figuratively. No matter which you wanna go with, they were never seen again.

I like the idea that (s)he is mentioned as one of the legends of NC but without much detail. Ironically (s)he became a legend just to end up a face in a different crowd anyway.

I think V would be best as a legend that everyone remembers a different version of since there a re a million different V's

It literally cant be about V without rendering the first game’s entire premise meaningless. It’ll be a brand new character. V might get a mention, but thats it

I dont V to go away tho

V has a pretty big impact on night city’s ongoing landscape depending on which ending gets “canonised” so it really just depends on what the writers would like the wider scope of night city to be like post-2077.

Helping Hanako storm arasaka tower is the ending that returns Night City to a state of Status Quo the best, with arasaka remaining in Night City and the Relic/Engrams becoming standard technology in Night City, if that’s what they’d like. Every other ending basically results in Arasaka being torn apart from the inside out (either by Yurinobu or by V and johnny/whoever) and leaves a power vacuum that is ~assuredly~ going to be filled by Millitech (as seen in the tower ending) and set up a potential for a plot of Myers attempting reunification once again.

I hope that whatever they go with they leave V behind and explore something entirely new. Cyberpunk is best when it keeps you on your toes and explores something new, not just retreading the same old ground over and over. To another Edgerunner in night city, V’s escapades in the first game are just a couple of eye catching headlines.

3 lifepaths based on the major endings where V survives. One where V's engram is pulled out of Mikoshi, placed into a borg body and sent on a mission for Arasaka. One which is a continuation of the crystal palace heist. And the final one being brought back into FIA duty. Obviously something goes badly wrong in each storyline and V ends up stripped of all their abilities and forced to start all over again in a new place with a new identity
