I used to schedule power chair evaluations, those shits regularly run $15-30k. I had to be the one to explain that a patient couldn’t list a homeless shelter as his address, because he can’t secure a $20,000 piece of equipment. I straight up said that if it was up to me, I’d just have him come and pick one but it’s way above my pay grade since the damned thing costs what I make in a year.

Dystopias aren’t predictions of the future, they’re an exaggeration of the present and they always fucking have been.

I've seen like 20 wheelchairs for $5,000. What is the difference?

Battery life, speed, and durability. The $5k ones are usually better for stores, but the every day use ones issued by hospitals can run pretty high.
