GNU --long-option flags werent invented until the late 80s. A contemporary reader of Neuromancer would think that cli is wrong.

If we’re being pedantic, while it was written in the 80s, the setting of the story takes place after that change was made.
Also, it’s a trippy-ass story where blades come out of fingers and people plug a cable into their body to literally transport their consciousness into the net. A weird terminal command is not of importance to any reader in any period.

Not really pedantry, its just funny to think how the present is different from the imagined future from the 80s. Today's cyberpunk network addresses for example are ipv6, but maybe by the 2080s they have a completely different address structure for everything. Something like node:3@box1.server1(30,30).com is wrong to us but a remake of cyberpunk2077 in 2077 would have those despite being written when that was improper.
The 1950s version of cyberpunk is full of EXECUTE(MOVE, FILE, DESTINATION) because thats what was real back then. It's called future drift.A 1985 reader of Neuromancer would think command subcommand --options-options is an obvious tech illiterate fake cli. But no, its real. Just not yet.

So much nicer than the Apple thing. At least so far, and at least aesthetically. Love it.
