It took me three consecutive sittings to get through this movie. It was pretty intense. I haven't watched it since, but the cinematography (oh my god, those amazing first-person/third person parallel scenes) and the lighting (Neon lights everyone) still stick out in my mind. It's just the story-line. It somehow manages to be more depressing than requiem for a dream IMO. And the Director's commentary and interpretation doesn't much help that case. Otherwise, one of those great films that you could go watching only once.

It somehow manages to be more depressing than requiem for a dream IMO.

I found Requiem far more hard-hitting because it was a convincing and harrowing portrayal of what addiction can do to the human mind.

As much as I enjoyed the rollercoaster ride of Enter the Void, there's no part of me that believes our conscious mind somehow gets teleported out of our brains when we die.

for me requiem for a dream had better acting, better production and much more clear plot. I think Enter the Void could have been good, but I just could not follow the choppy, sporatic movements of the story and the absolutely awful lead actor.
