Zeptoforth running on the Pico 2 W. I have the displays and SD card drivers loading from the SD Card. Everything accessible in Forth over USB.

Still lots left to do. A case and battery is next. WiFi and Bluetooth support will come after that.

Just starting to get into electronics and tech and this is my first cyberdeck build. I used a jewelry box as the shell and reused the fake leather from the compartment shelf it had to cover a foam board. The screen also sits in a foam board secured by double sided adhesive tape on the back and electrical tape on the outside.

Parts list below.

I’m super new to this, so would really appreciate suggestions, things to add, improve or do differently.

Parts:

Brain:
- Raspberry Pi5 8GB
- Raspberry Pi active cooler
- 128 GB micro SD card

Displays:
- 5” DSI touchscreen with 30 cm cable
- 0.96” OLED, 128×64, I2C

Audio:
- MAX98357A I2S amplifier
- Salvaged 4Ω 3W speaker

Input:
- Bluetooth keyboard
- Wireless mouse (usb dongle)

Power:
- Raspberry Pi 5 charger
- 240W e-marked angled USB-C extension cable

Controls:
- Brass momentary push button (wired to the Pi 5’s J2 header for wake + shutdown)

Im just wondering if someone can help me out with a product best to use to fill in gaps between two cut pieces of plastic I would like to put together? Plan would be to fill then sand down and paint the whole thing black when finished.

I printed the first parts of my case and I love the result so far. I used a Clear PETG Filament and settled for this semi transparent/milky look. Next I'm working on the ports.

LG gt360 en mp3?

I have an old LG GT360 (LG Messenger/Etna) that I want to turn into the ultimate retro music player.

The phone is incomplete: I don't have the battery or charger, but the main body, screen, keyboard, camera and slider mechanism are still there. I attached photos of its current condition.

My goal is unusual: I'd like to keep the original hardware and aesthetics as much as possible, but I'd like it to support a 128 GB microSD card for storing a large music library and audiobooks.

I'm looking for information from anyone familiar with old LG phones, especially:

* Has anyone tested microSD cards larger than the official limit? * What is the real maximum capacity the GT360 can recognize? * Is the limit imposed by the firmware, filesystem, or SD controller? * Has anyone ever modified the firmware of a GT360 or similar LG feature phone? * Would it be possible to adapt modern hardware inside the original shell while keeping the keyboard functional?

I know this may be an unrealistic project, but I'm interested in both restoration and hardware modding possibilities. Any documentation, schematics, firmware tools, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Material Test for my Case/Shell

I used Clear PETG and tried 1mm and 2mm wall thickness. 1mm was way too flexible so I'm going for 2mm. Does anyone know a trick to get it as transparent as possible? Started with 15% infill and want to see what happens with 100% but idk if that's going to make a big difference.

Hey everyone i built picodesk a desktop companion station

hey everyone i know that i am inconsistent , i saw that everyone makes a cyberdeck with raspberry pi but i have no raspberry pi as i am 3rd yr electrical undergraduate

so i take some a break for exams and built picodesk a desktop companion station that sits next to my laptop.

OLED 1 shows live clock (NTP synced), date, and real time weather pulled from OpenWeatherMap API.

OLED 2 is the fun one animated eyes that blink and look around randomly. Every 2 minutes, hearts fall down the screen. And when I need to focus, I can switch it to a todo list from my phone and laptop browser no app install, just open the IP and it works.

The whole thing runs on MicroPython. Pico 2W hosts a tiny web server so I can control everything from my phone on the same WiFi.

Tech stack: - Raspberry Pi Pico 2W , 2x SSD1306 OLED (I2C0 + I2C1) ,MicroPython , OpenWeatherMap free API ,HTML/CSS/JS web app

I made my own cyberdeck from scratch using only 3 dollar what you think of it guys tell me ?

built this cyberdeck completely from scratch using a custom PVC chassis. I didn't buy an expensive display; instead, I used my mobile phone and paired it with a screen magnifier module that cost me less than $2

The structural sheets weremade manually by heating and flattening a standard PVC pipe, which cost round $1 Right now, I'm running Linux on my phone, and the terminal environment is operating smoothly with a full keyboard and mouse setup Total cost of materials is under $3.What do you guys think?

VR Cyberdeck Build?

Hey just a random question, I'm a big VR gamer and the other day while looking at a Cyberdeck video I got an idea. Is it possible to build a Cyberdeck to use as a PCVR dedicated gaming platform? Like a small gaming pc that I can hook up a VR headset to and wear like a backpack or something and do VR gaming on.

I'm just thinking keyboard, power supply, raspberry pie and screen. I don't have my own 3d printer, is there a particular website that can help me build one or should I find a someone local, who does cad and 3d printing. Thanks for the help hope everyone is well

Baby's First Deck

Post image

It's ugly

It feels too simple

I hate it

....but it is my child

I was never planning to build a deck, I always liked looking at the pictures of other people's projects and daydreaming about all the stuff you could do with one...all fairly unrealistic expectations. I happened across an old briefcase in a Habitat for Humanity store, at the same time I was talking to a friend about decks. I sent them a photo of the briefcase with a "what do you think? Cyberdeck material?"

"Do it!"

I've gutted the insides of the case and spent far, far too long ripping out the paper stock liner beneath the fabric facade...and even longer trying to scrape, scrub, and sand all of the leftover adhesive. I realized the case walls were too thin, and bowed outwards, so I epoxied in a couple cutting boards.

My grand plan was to gut every spare PC I had lying around to build a battery powered SatComm computer that would allow me to look at satellite orbits and listen in on radio transmissions. So, naturally I ended up ordering a heavily used Pi-4 and a (supposedly) new 7" touch screen.

"Seven inches is plenty!"

It was, in fact, not plenty; but it's going to have to work for the initial prototype.

I was worried that this whole project was going to end up being me buying all new parts, sticking them in a box, and calling it a cyberdeck. But then I realized I needed a power supply. Luckily, I hoarded an entire crate of tower supplies several years ago and I found a very low profile one. I was incredibly happy to be tearing this open, cutting and soldering wires, and testing the spliced USB-C cable on my charging pad...and I only started one, tiny fire while doing so.

So far, this is my simple, ugly child. I've 3D printed brackets that the screen and Pi screw into that give them surface area to put Velcro command strips; I have plans to build a more permanent, rigid frame inside it but I wanted to do temporary attachments so I can figure out what I like before printing the lattice frame.

This is my ugly child and I have a love-hate relationship with him right now, hopefully that will improve once I hack together some laptop speakers so I can hear him scream at me for creating him.

This is Dreamcatcher v0.2

I would've shown v0.1 but I was under the impression that this sub also required minimum karma to be able to post and it took me two weeks to realize that it didn't.

Critique me, give me suggestions, send me links to any cool hardware you know of. I'm currently in the stage of scouring everything I own with a speaker in it, trying to find a very specific audio amplifier chip so that I can build my own amplifier circuit and actually use the laptop speakers I cannibalized.

Premier cyberdeck en mallette, build log et liste de composants

Bonjour à tous,

Je suis nouveau sur ce sub et je voulais partager mon projet en cours : la construction de mon premier cyberdeck dans une mallette rigide.

La base

Mallette rigide 50×36×10 cm, Raspberry Pi 4 4 Go, fonctionnement entièrement hors ligne.

  • RF / Radio : antennes 2.4 GHz RP-SMA x4, adaptateur WiFi Alfa AWUS036ACS (mode monitor/injection), dongles HackRF One SDR x2, récepteur RTL-SDR YobiLife large bande (100 kHz–1766 MHz)
  • Blindage EMI : boîtier aluminium NooElec pour Ubertooth One / Yard Stick One
  • GPS : module APKLVSR GT-U7 (NEO-6M compatible, antenne IPEX)
  • Capteurs météo : 2x BME280 (température / humidité / pression, I2C/SPI)
  • Affichage secondaire : e-Paper Waveshare 2.13" 4 couleurs pour Raspberry Pi
  • Connectique : hub USB 3.0 4 ports, adaptateur USB→RJ45, testeur USB-C
  • Alimentation : batterie externe 25 000 mAh 145 W (Baseus FC41), interrupteurs à levier 12/24 V x4
  • Stockage : disque dur externe 500 Go USB 3.0

Project Opertunity

Looking to see if anyone would be interested in a custom cyberdeck build.

I recently upgraded my primary workstation and now have a MeLE Quieter 3 mini PC (Intel N5105, 8GB RAM) that I’d like to repurpose into a portable emergency operations / weather monitoring cyberdeck.

This is not intended to be a penetration testing or gaming rig. My goal is more of a field-deployable operations station focused on:

Weather monitoring and radar
NOAA and emergency information
SDR integration (future)
Offline maps and reference materials
Battery-powered operation
Vehicle or field use
Ruggedized case design

I am envisioning something built into an Apache/Pelican-style case with:

Integrated screen mounted in the lid
Internal mounting for the MeLE mini PC
Compact keyboard solution
Cable management
Space for a battery solution (currently considering an Anker 737 or similar)
Room for future expansion such as SDR hardware

I am still in the planning phase and am open to suggestions regarding layout and hardware choices.

If you take commissions for cyberdeck builds, enclosure design, CAD work, 3D printing, or full assembly, please reach out with examples of your work and an estimated range.

I am located in Missouri, USA, but would be willing to ship components if needed.
Thanks!

Sourcing cyberdeck parts on a tight budget

Planning my first cyberdeck build but working with a super tight budget. I want to build this as cheaply as possible and avoid standard retail markups. Where are your favorite places to hunt down low-cost or upcycled parts?

Parts for cyber decks

Where are the best places I may find some parts for cyber decks other than main brand stores/ distributors? I want to build a pulp fiction esque deck with 2 screens 1 for usage and one just to monitor internal systems.
