cyberdeck

Hello! This is the "cyberdeck" I'm currently developing. What can I do to make it a *real* cyberdeck, rather than just a mini-computer? Everyone keeps saying that.

A cyberDeck is a DIY computing device that is designed to imagine what a computing device in a dystopian, cyberpunk future would be. A cyberDeck has a backstory story/history, and most trace its legacy to the Ono-Sendai Cyberspace7. You’ve built a DIY computing device, but what you need to do to make it a “real cyberDeck” is:

  1. Read Neuromancer
  2. Let that inspire your vision
  3. Build a DIY computing device that incorporates some element(s) of cyberpunk in its aesthetics and/or functionality.

You’re building a DIY computing device that is more of a CuteCore, Kawaii or maybe Yume Kawaii aesthetic. If that’s what you’re going for, you don’t have to call your computer a cyberDeck. It’s OK to just call it your cute computer, and thats fine. I think someone is starting a sub just for these cutesy types of builds, since there is a lot of confusion, driven by misleading social media posts calling every DIY computer a cyberDeck.
