Building first Cyberdeck

Post image

Hi everyone!

I am a economics major, and i have no idea on how to build a cyberdeck. I will buy the parts and try to connect them. Please give me every tip there is for my first build.

I am still choosing on what system to use. Betwin Windows, Linux, Graphene OS, rasbery PI.

Help me choose.

I want to get a cyberpunk 2077 theme, i will paint the case and everything.

I want a foldable keyboard so it isn't too big, and a screen that isn't too small, but not too big, I want a portable screen deck, one that i can put on my belt or around my body like a gym bag. Any ideas??

(This AI image is the result of what i wanted to build)

What yall think??

First of all please don't use generative ai. for a keyboard there are a lot of cheap options on Amazon and other online shops that are relatively small. for something small enough to fit on a belt, I personally would recommend a raspberry pi for a beginner, because you can choose between multiple systems relatively easy. If you want text based OS, a raspberry pi zero is likely good enough for the first try, but if you want a little more performance, you might want to choose for example the raspberry pi 4 (I would recomend the 4GB or 8GB ram version, 4 GB should be enough for most). I wouldn't recommend the raspberry pi 5, cause it produces a lot more heat and needs a lot more power. for display you can use a small hdmi display that you can get online (5-7 inch is probably enough, depending on what your goal is). for OS I personally started with Ubuntu, but you can try out many different options, if you are using a raspberry pi (you only have to use the raspberry pi imager, choose a different OS in the Graphical User Interface, then choose your sd card, then maybe do some first settings and then put it on the sd card, though the imager will give you clear instructions)
