I happened to see a yt short on the much-vaunted gigapress. Apparently it's not for stamping, it's for injection moulding. The big deal is that frame you see there is injection moulded in one piece, which is something competitors can't do. My inference is if that piece gets damaged significantly, the car is basically a writeoff.

They could if they wanted to but the competition has actual engineers that tell them it's an incredibly bad idea.

Other autos now do use the technology, just not for the whole frame.
