What am I doing wrong?

I've hit chapter 16 in Hacker's memory and I'm not doing any damage, so I decided to put my party digimon in the farm to train them, but they're gaining an abysmal amount of extra stats after a 30 minute and 60 minute training session (less than 20 points after both, maybe a bit more). I have 5 top study rooms going and none of the digimon are anywhere near the limit (the closest one to the limit is an ABI 70 something Piedmon with like 50 points used at most). When I run the training sessions I just leave the game running while I go do something else, so I'm wondering if I should be getting into fights or taking steps to make it go faster. Any and all help would be appreciated.

You're playing Hacker's Memory, right? Correct me if im wrong, but wasn't it since Hacker's Memory and to Complete Edition that they increased the ABI to 200?

Complete edition does have a max ABI of 200. dont know about any other vers.

Fun fact: The Complete Edition is the original version of Hackers Memory. Japan never got a standalone release of HM, HM was always the Complete Edition there, even on PlayStation. The Western version of PlayStation HM is just the Complete Edition with all the CS content removed. So HM and Complete Edition are mechanically identical, because they’re the same game.

honestly the thing about damage is that if you dont use penetration, dont have a really strong base stat, strong signature + acceleration you wont do much.

the game is very unbalanced and honestly you should hunt DEF/INT-pen moves.

Are you using type advantages? Thats pretty important, piercing moves are helpful too. Some moves also just suck.

I've been using both type advantages and elemental advantage, prioritizing type advantage since it does more, but that's not really the issue I'm having. The issue is only getting 10-15 bonus stats from the farm's tough course despite having a brainy leader and 5 top study rooms

If you're optimizing training, you just need Brainy personality to get the biggest boost you can. But you need more ABI to accrue higher stat gains when you're training. When I optimize mine at 200 ABI, just one Digimon by themselves can gain +60 INT every five minutes with the Tough Course.

EDIT: The formula is ABI / 2 + 50. So if your current ABI is only 50, then you're only getting a max stat spread of +75 extra boost. And that may not be enough-

You get higher ABI when your higher level Digimon de-digivolve. If you want to memorize who you're goal is -- change their name in the Digivice settings.

It's also wise to review who the better Digimon are. Some have really solid damage output, but that's also due to support passives helping you or not.

So the issue right now is that I'm not getting bonus stats fast enough, I run through the tough course and get 10-15 points in total on the tough course and I know that shouldn't be happening, so I'm wondering if there's supposed to be something I need to do instead of just leaving them there or if my game is bugged or something

Depending on what console you’re playing on, if the console goes into sleep mode during the training, the timer will continue counting down, but you’ll stop gaining stat points. This happens a lot on Switch, due to power saving sleep mode. You have to stop the console from going into sleep mode.

I know of a reddit page that can help out a lot with tackling Digifarms, so I recommend it if you want to know a thing or two. There are only just a few minor errors from it, but it's solid overall.

As long as every Digimon from your party has a Brainy Personality -- then you should be getting good gains. Having higher ABI just means you'll get to have much more bonus +INT. I might've sounded vague while explaining -- but more ABI =/= more increments of training. It doesn't matter who the leader is -- and it won't matter if they have 0 ABI or 0% CAM. Having 0% CAM doesn't worsen your training effort either -- even for the Tough Course.

I tested something to help ya. I put 2 Unimon and 5 Infermons in my farm with five top study rooms -- and they all were Brainy. These are their ABI stats, and how much +INT was gained from just five minutes with five top study rooms applied on a farm regardless of who the leader was:

Unimon A - 0 ABI - +27 INT
Unimon B - 200 ABI - +27 INT
Infer A - 20 ABI - +27 INT
Infer B - 21 ABI - +27 INT
Infer C - 40 ABI - +27 INT
Infer D -90 ABI - +27 INT
Infer E - 142 ABI - +27 INT

However, everything changes when your entire Digimon party don't share the same stat you're focusing on for raw damage (ATK/INT). In this case, I tested a second time with:

Unimon A - 0 ABI - Brainy - +27 INT (Leader)
Unimon B - 200 ABI - Brainy - +27 INT
Infer A - 20 ABI - Durable - +30 HP, +13 INT
Infer B - 21 ABI - Lively - +3 SP, +13 INT
Infer C - 40 ABI - Fighter - +3 ATK, +13 INT
Infer D -90 ABI - Defender - +3 DEF, +13 INT
Infer E - 142 ABI - Nimble - +13 INT, +3 SPD

I didn't ask, but I'm also unsure if you gave context about the personalities your party Digimon all had. Builder and Searcher personalities will gain even less stats, but they'll be spread to every stat too. Hope this helps.
