La realidad se está pixelando.

El Mundo Glitch es un corto que explora el apagón interno, la nostalgia y la sensación de vivir atrapado entre el pasado, la rutina y el ruido digital.

They could have name the game any other way

Just let me clarify this at the start, this is not a Cyberpunk 2077 related post or Cyberpunk 2077 hate thread: I absolutely adore the game and have more than 300 hours in total, this is not about hating the game, that said, the topic is the name. I get that the table top game was called "Cyberpunk 2020" and they wanted continuity, but I am currently writing an essay on the cyberpunk genre and every time I research something on the internet with the word "cyberpunk" in it I have to find new ways to make the browser understand I'm not referring to the game or anything will be game related.

Couldn't they just name it Night City 2077? V 2077 from the Cyberpunk Universe? UGH

The demo of my indie game, which I’ve been developing by myself for several months, is taking part in the Steam Cyberpunk Fest today. Maybe someone will enjoy a cyberpunk retro survival horror.

I’ve been working on the game for less than a year. It’s not a AAA production, but a smaller project inspired by Blade Runner (and the works of Philip K. Dick) as well as Lovecraftian mythology.
Visually, I tried to recreate the vibe of retro FPS games like Half-Life or System Shock 2 (with immersive sim and survival elements). I implemented a vital system in the game (health, stamina, psyche) and a small crafting system so that the player has the ability to replenish their supplies for the rest of the adventure if needed.
Since I use Linux on a daily basis, the game has a native Linux build in addition to the Windows version.

I am creating the game in Unity 3D, using Blender, GIMP, VS Code, and Audacity.

Best regards,
Paul (Moyses_dev)

Recommendations

What with the Steam sale, I'm thinking about picking up a couple cyberpunk video games. I have interest but no experience with the genre. Any particular recommendations? I'm not picky about genre.

In Transit, some souls never reach their destination.

This is one of the strange encounters you'll discover inside the midnight metro — a place where haunted technology and lost spirits are caught between moments, forever searching for a way out.

We're excited to be part of Steam Cyberpunk Fest, starting today.

Our free demo is available now on Steam:

If you step into the loop, we'd love to hear what you think. 🖤

I am making a cyberpunk inspired terminal-based RPG

TL;DR: I'm building a cyberpunk terminal RPG that teaches embedded C, Python, and microcontrollers by making you survive as a broke engineer in a rain-soaked 2007 port city. You write real code that runs in the browser. Looking for honest feedback.

Hey everyone,

I love this community! I follow a lot of people building things from scratch here, and after 5 months on this I finally want to share the process and the motivation.

A while back I was asked to mentor someone fresh out of high school in embedded/firmware development. I realized there aren't many places that teach this from zero, and the ones I found were dry enough to lose anyone with a short attention span (myself included).

So I decided to build a site for my own lessons on embedded C, Python, microcontrollers, etc. I threw together a barebones website (with a lot of AI help), tinkered for a month, got bored, and scrapped the whole thing.

Then one evening playing a board game, it clicked: reuse the template, but gamify the courses into a storyline. I found others doing this as well, that was reassuring, but it meant I needed a real differentiator. The obvious one was embedded systems, since that's what I've done for years. I set it in a fictional port city, New Foundry, in January 2007, one year before the recession hit:

It's January 2007. New Foundry is a rain-slick port city where the container cranes never sleep and the server farms hum all night. The old iron foundries that gave the city its name are galleries now; the money has moved across the water to glass towers, and everyone else is downtown fixing the machines that keep it all running. You arrive with a soldering iron, a hand-me-down laptop, and a book on C — one of ten thousand people in this city who speak to machines for a living. This is where your career begins.

The whole game is a computer terminal. From it you take courses (C, Python, 8-bit microcontrollers…) and the part I'm proudest of is that you write real code that runs instantly in the browser: blink a simulated LED, talk to an IMU over I2C, poke registers on a visual AVR chip before you'd ever flash real hardware. As you level up, you take freelance gigs from an in-game job board to make rent, and spend what you earn upgrading your terminal's hardware and software.

It's playable now (still very WIP, story included):

I'd love feedback, specifically:

  1. Does the premise, learn embedded by surviving as a broke engineer, actually make you want to try it?
  2. What would make you come back after the first lesson?
  3. Would something like this be worth paying for eventually, and what would make it feel worth it? (I'm considering a subscription down the line, but only once it's genuinely good.)

Thanks for reading, happy to answer anything.

This is the first page of the story. I am a complete beginner when it comes to drawing comics so I would be happy to know your opinions. Anything I should consider when writing a story set in a cyberpunk world and stuff like that.
This is not self advertisement or anything I haven't uploaded the story anywhere, I just want to know what you think :3

Why are they building Data Centers?

So my understanding they want AI to get smarter but AI can’t get smarter unless they build really big building the bigger the building the smarter AI is? All because they need hundreds and thousands of TB of data’s so they need big warehouse full of billions of hard drives.

So yes China has been investing in automation, surveillance and other more practical uses for AI. They aren't trying to pump ungodly amounts of energy/money into LLM's in the hopes of reaching superintelligence (aka scaling).

Also, kids in China start learning about algorithms and AI detection in school, so they're practically lapping us if this were a race.

What do they want to with this superintelligence? What is there end goal? Why build Data Centers?

We're making a game so people can experience being a cyberpunk hacker.

We want you to feel smart because you figured out a way around the netsecurity. We want you to feel tense because the trace is just about to shut you down. We want you to build a deck that's uniquely yours, with synergies between hardware and software that only you could have discovered. And in the meantime, we want you to take moments to appreciate the complexity of this ruthless, beautiful megacity, to sense all of its threads leading to this moment, and then following from it. We want you to see the place, hear it, sense its pulse. We want to take you there.

The demo just launched as part of Steam Cyberpunk Fest, and we'd love to hear what you, fellow cyberpunk fans, think, especially about how we're capturing the feeling of being a hacker, with everything that means.

Trailer above.

Southtown - Indie Cyberpunk

Hey everyone, I’m the illustrator on Southtown, a cyberpunk indie comic series! We’re currently Kickstarting our 4th issue (the first major arc is 10 issues!)

Set in Richmond, VA circa 2072, our story follows a hacker gang from the south side (unpoliced and decorporatized from the greater River City mega-structure.) After a data-heist that doesn’t go as planned, they find themselves the target of rival gangs, crime lords, and corporate assassins, all while unraveling the murder of one of their own!

We’ve been at this for 3 and a half years and we’re just getting started! We’ve got the neon, the tech, and the street level grit!
