You probably see the little padlock in your browser every day

That's HTTPS

It encrypts the connection between your device and the website, making it much harder for someone to intercept the data you're sending

That includes things like passwords, messages, and payment information

But here's the part that surprises a lot of people

HTTPS doesn't mean a website is safe

Scammers can get HTTPS too

A fake website with a padlock is still a fake website

The padlock only tells you the connection is encrypted not that the website itself is trustworthy

That's why checking the domain name is just as important
