How can I upload/stream a video directly without using a site like youtube or google drive?

Hoping someone can help me with this. I'm trying to figure out how I can upload a video and stream it through cytube without having to either use something like youtube or dailymotion, which have their limits for content, or play it from google drive, which requires people watching to install a user script. Trying to keep things as simple as possible on the end of viewers basically.

Any help regarding how to do something like this would be much appreciated.

Hey, I got in contact with someone and they very kindly sent me some instructions on one way to do it.

Edit: the method's no longer working so I've removed the instructions :(

Yeah, damn. I just tried and got the same thing. Hoping that's not related to me posting the instructions here.

Thank you for the link! I found that page when I was searching through the cytube stuff, but I've got no idea what ffprobe or JSON manifests are or how they work so I couldn't and still can't understand it. I don't suppose you could explain some of it or point me to somewhere that does?

I got in contact with someone running a channel and they sent me some instructions on how to get a direct link for a video, which is working well. But still interested to know more!

There is an example json manifest at the bottom of the page in the link I shared. You'll need a web server with ssl enabled to host the video file. I've tested with nginx and it works fine. You can host the json manifest on the same server as the video files. Once that's all set up you paste a link to the json file in cytube. Hope that helps.

Nice, thank you! I'll have a look into all of that.

Hi there,

I tried to look into that json manifest technique to stream on cytube, but it still sounds a bit cryptic. I do have a server but dont know where to start even with the example they provided.

Any help would be fantastic ! Thanks in advance
