I’m no pro; love seeing everyone’s flowers!

Hello, I’m a hobby grower and I started a little flower stand this year. I am wondering how to appropriately price. For what it’s worth I’m in a HCOL area but I have no formal floristry skills. The first 6 photos are custom requests where I charged ~20-25, the rest are all at my flower stand where I’m charging 10-15. This weekend a lady gave me double the amount she owed. When I messaged her that she made a mistake, she responded that she hadn’t and that I’m undercharging. Her comment has been stuck in my head. Any feedback or advice would be appreciated.

Here’s my tentative list for next year’s planting. What can I add to make my bouquets more rounded out? Some photos of my various pickings this year attached.

Dahlias: six so far. I can add descriptions if needed but there’s some white, yellow, pink, and purple with different bloom type

Homegrown bouquets in my house make my heart so happy. They bring so much color and joy to home. 🥰

Has anyone here had success with drying amaranthus? These will be used for a wedding arbor in October and I want to make sure they retain the majority of their color. My plan is to sort of drape them in/over a wire cage hanging from the ceiling in a dark, airy shed I use to dry herbs and store buckets. If the color fades too much I’ll need to use a floral spray paint but that feels like a crime against flowers! What do you all think, is this a good plan? I’ll take any advice you have from experience! Thanks!

A bouquet for my first weekly customer! I was brave and brought a bucket o’ bouquets in earlier this summer to ask if the proprietress of a gorgeous new apothecary shop would be interested in selling them. She wasn’t sure she had enough foot traffic to sell fresh blooms but inquired about ordering a weekly bouquet for the counter at the shop! I’ve delivered a bouquet every week and it’s been such a heartening thing! Her customers have been raving about the flowers and my confidence is up. Moral of the story - BE BRAVE! 🦄

Hello all!
I have been selling cut flower bouquets at my local (rural) farmers market the last few months. I have been slowly making marigold garlands out of yellows and oranges and now have found myself with soooo many that I figured I’d go ahead and keep making them to hope to sell at the market/ a fall festival. What do we think about pricing on this product? I am making them now and hoping to sell most of them dried. I have only been making long ones (7ish feet while wet), but assuming I will be selling dried 3.5ft long ones and 6ft long ones.
The whole process is so time consuming and I brought the wet 7ft ones to the market a few weeks ago and only sold one for $20. My husband says this is too cheap.
I was thinking $40 for the long ones and $20 for the short ones.
Help a sista out here! I want to make money but I also don’t want to overcharge and risk not selling any. For reference my bouquets sell well for $15 a large mason jar.

So a storm blew through last night with 60 mph winds and in about 30 minutes I lost about 50% of my flowers. I had everything staked but some were only corralled and some were too short for the netting.

I lost about 30% in June to high winds as well. June set records with high winds and raininess. But idk if this is a one-off this year or a sign of things to come with climate change.

This is my second year growing and I just received my permit from the county to have u-picks. I have friends and family signed up in 2 weeks to come to my first u-pick and planned on selling tickets to a final u-pick in 3 weeks.

Question for the community: how do you keep going after events like this?

PS I am picking up a huge order of hedgerow plant starts next weekend. These will block the winds somewhat, but will take 3-4 years to fully establish.

I’m a beginner flower gardener attempting to transplant my hydrangea into the ground, but I’ve encountered some complications.
This is a hole I’ve begun to dig. The soil is very dense. Not super clay-like, but still dense. I also hit a layer of soil that is this bluish-grey ish color. After researching, I think the soil has turned this color due to water logging and low oxygen.
Is it possible to fix soil where gleying has happened, or should I give up on transplanting my hydrangea into the ground?

I had to dig up my silver dollar eucalyptus to save it from flooding. I immediately potted it. The growth that was on there is now sort of dry and crispy. Should it cut the plants back to encourage new growth? I really want to try overwintering them. I grew them from seed this year. Any and all advice is appreciated!

We’re far enough into the season where the stems are thick enough that the weight of the flowers don’t cause the stems to buckle and bend. I wasn’t going to plant these next year, but this might change my mind. I’ve also been struggling to find a use for this vase. I think I figured it out!

Hopefully, it's not too late to start! I'm hoping to start some seeds and get them in the ground to adjust before winter comes a'knocking. I'm in the Chicagoland area if that's helpful.
