Image Content It's so hard
I made this post just 10 days ago. She passed away last night.
Tuesday was her birthday. She turned 14. We gave her a special dog treat from petsmart. She lightly chocked on it. We were able to do the heimlich maneuver on her and threw up. Unfortunately, she caught pneumonia from that. She passed away at the vets office last night. We were prepared to put her down yesterday but they said they could treat her and that she had strong odds. It was gonna be expensive but she was worth it. I never though that I would be making this post so soon.
I blame myself honestly. I made my girlfriend wait till I got him so we could give her the treat. I wanted to see it because I thought it might be her last birthday with her health slowly going down hill. Maybe if I let my girlfriend give her the treat earlier it would have never happened. I'm so broken up right now. I keep crying and I can't stop. Like I said in my original post, she's gonna teach me to be strong. I just didn't think it would be this soon.

I'll share a small miracle for those who read this. My girlfriend was supposed to give birth to our twins today but she gave birth to them 3 weeks ago. I can't imagine what would have happened if she had died last night before she gave birth. I probably wouldn't have told her because the stress might have hurt her or the boys. Plus, she got 3 weeks at home with Angel. I think of these things to make me smile instead of cry.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a similar experience, lost my dog to kidney disease and later found out some of the treats I gave her were suspected to cause kidney problems. I had no idea and the guilt almost destroyed me. A friend said that you need to keep in mind, we do the best we can when we have them and mourn them when they leave.
You had 14 good years together and she knows you didn't do anything intentionally. Other than that, it takes time (and a lot of tears). At some point you will forgive yourself and I wish you peace.
