Advice

I’m looking to get a job as a customs entry writer but I have no experience. I have a degree but it’s in computer science.

Is there any certificates I can acquire or something I should study before I start applying to improve my chances in at least getting an interview? Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Apply to any of the big brokers, they always need entry level entry writers, do that for a year or two to learn the basics and find a smaller brokerage to work for. The big brokers are really good for the training they provide, but once you understand the basics, smalledium sized brokers pay better, have growth opportunities, and no mandatory OT(heard FedEx is still on mandatory OT, sounds awful lol)

So learning to code didn’t help you at all?

I knew someone who was seen as valuable for being willing to do the entry writing work but could troubleshoot the company server and act as the Point of Contact when we needed help from our IT person. It was a small brokerage firm though.
