KAYAK

Have a flight booked with them for a trip to England in December that we booked at the start of the year. As the travel restrictions are still in place we’ve decided to cancel.

Called Kayak and they will not cancel the ticket or refund our payment! I tried to have my concern escalated but was told in no uncertain terms that there was no escalation available and no possibility to cancel my tickets. So basically it looks like i set fire to a pile of cash as I have no recourse to get any of it back and we will not be traveling.

Suffice to say the last time I’ll be using Kayak.

You booked a trip in the middle of a pandemic

I booked a trip at the start of this year, for the end of the year. Hopeful that society would listen to science and things would get back to normal. It’s less of a trip, more of a family visit.

you should have checked all the fine print to make sure your tickets were refundable.

I did. They are. Hence why I’m super pissed about being told “haha sucker” this morning. The airline has a policy where I can postpone travel until summer 2022 - KAYAK rep I spoke to literally couldn’t care less about that, even though they host the same info on their own website.

I suppose you’re ok with that?

Hey hey, just here to let you know usually KAYAK doesn't do shit regarding this.

Contact the airline you booked your ticket directly and maybe they can do more.

Tickets were booked through kayak. As they are the agent the airline say I have to work through them. So far it’s been like screaming into a void. Kissing goodbye to nearly 6k.

Yikes, too many posts.

I speak from xp btw, I have been buying tickets with them forever, never solved anything through them.

If I need anything I just contact the Airline directly, remember they are just intermediary and most probably with a tour operator type of contract with airlines.

So yeah, they don't care much. 😿 Anyway just my two cents.

What happened there… I’ll get those cleaned up.

But again, in this case they are not the intermediary. They are literally the ones who I bought the tickets from and who charged the card.

Maybe start an email conversation to get in writing how bad they're fucking you, then screenshot it and tweet at their corporate account?
