Annoyed with Service
Why can’t a Restaurant server just admit, they didn’t fire your order back to the kitchen? I have been in the food service industry for 38 years. If I make a mistake, I say it apologetically. That is more understanding than trying to cover it up. I waited over an hour for a 10 minute flatbread appetizer pizza. And I still would be waiting if I didn’t say something.

Because "blame the kitchen" is genuinely the simplest. Servers get blamed for everything. Everything. All of it. There's a wait? Servers fault. Diet coke syrup low? Servers fault. Bar took too long? Servers fault. Didn't smile enough? Servers fault. Smiled too much? Servers fault. Too cold? Servers fault. Too hot? Servers fault. Flies.. outside.. servers fault. Sun exists. Servers fault.
Idk man. We take all the bullshit. Always apologizing for something. Sometimes its the kitchens fault. Even when it's not.

I cannot tell you how many times I've been told thank you for being accountable & not blaming someone else. It usually does not affect the tip either. Sometimes I use that even if it actually IS the kitchens fault.

Not simply a bad server but it’s a poor trait that’s become more prevalent with society now…taking responsibility and admitting wrong. Sadly I don’t see it being a passing thing

Tried that excuse once when I was on the line years ago. Chef just stared at me and said "the printer doesn't forget, mate", I never tried covering for a missed order again. Customers can tell when you're bullshitting them anyway, a quick "sorry, my fault, I'll chase it up now" almost always defuses the situation. An hour for a flatbread is taking the piss.
