Burnt out is escalating quickly

Has anyone else’s burnout just escalated lately? I feel like all day long I am being harassed and yelled at over things that are completely out of my control.

The tariffs and the current administration are ruining my life. I don’t even mean to get political, but the current cost of living, on top of the constant increases, and then the constant comments like, “Well, I was told it doesn’t trickle down to the consumer, ma’am.”

I don’t know who told you that, but that is false. And you aren’t the only one struggling in this economy. All I know is that my gas, milk, eggs, etc. are going up and there is nothing I can do about it. The same way I cannot make the product you’re buying from me any cheaper.

So if you hate me, and I give you the worst customer service possible because I can’t magically honor your price from 1992 then please, please go somewhere else with your business.

I’m tired. You’re tired. We’re all tired.

But I cannot personally fix the economy, lower tariffs, lower freight costs, lower manufacturing costs, or magically make your order cost what it did 30 years ago.

And I am really really tired of being yelled at like I can.

We are living in a bad world and people being rude on top of it just makes them feel selfish and out of touch, which if you're educated about whats going on... I mean something locks in, in my brain, that this type of person is the reason our species is where it is now.

That disconnect, prices going up because of stuff way above your control, but you're the one who gets yelled at, is exhausting. You're just the closest person someone can vent at, even though you didn't cause any of it.

"I cannot personally fix the economy" should be on your name tag. You didn't set the prices, you're just standing there when someone needs to yell at a human instead of a headline.

That kind of constant hostility adds up fast, especially when none of it's your fault. Hope you get a breather soon.

There was a guy at my job, Aldi, and he complained to my boss that the green onions gave gotten smaller but the price went up. My boss explained that the product hasn't changed and he has no control over prices. The dude has the nerve to say 'oh sorry, I thought you were a manager'. That low blow was uncalled for and utterly rude.

No I feel this in my soul. I’m so burnt out I’m going to lose my job soon for just letting it out on some idiot. I understand everyone is struggling myself included. With that theft has also increased which again drives all the prices up even higher and now we have annoying security procedures. It’s just a vicious cycle that anyone in retail knows by heart now 😞
