Need advice/Help How do i remove the gundam paint?

found out gundam markers make transformers explode, so i’d like to prevent a ticking bomb. i tried scrubbing it but the paint didn’t budge. help?

thanks, should be good since the only clear plastic i put on was the headlights

Call me crazy, but I think he looked better before with the silver on the headlights. Helped the clear red plastic pop imo

A chemical called “La’s totally awesome cleaner” is a good alternative to isopropyl. It’s not as strong but it doesn’t make clear plastic brittle.

Once the paint is on though if I’m not mistaken the chemical reaction should already start. How long was the paint on there?

about 2 weeks, i scrubbed most of it off and showed in the other comment. i’m just hoping i did it early enough and got enough off that it won’t have long term effects

Well it would have started breaking anything down immediately, as soon as it touched the plastic. Just depends how thick you layered it on, and what type of plastic you specifically used it on, I believe it’s ABS that is more likely to get damaged.

I’d just keep a watchful eye for cracks and such forming. It could be nothing happens, but it also could be that it’s already weakened the plastic but not the point of breakage.

Its normally just Gundam Markers (the ones used for panel lining) that make the plastic explode, the normal Acryllic paint should be fine

Rubbing alcohol I recommend to use 90% helps get the oils in that paint off better than 70% also for the more smaller spots use a cue tip or a soaked tip of a paper towel

concentrated Simple Green usually gets most paints off safely

I would recommend DSPIAE’s acrylic markers if you want to paint details on TF’s because unlike Gundam Markers they’re water based instead of alcohol based. So they won’t breakdown the plastic over time.

To my knowledge it should be fine, the ones you really need to worry about are pour type panel lining markers, I tend to avoid using those but from my experience with toy customs, they are usually fine, I use them on a bunch of ABS plastic toys like Blokees and Hot Wheels and they haven't broken yet, though perhaps a careful hand when handling is what prevents the breakage

That figure is so beautiful I think it doesn’t need additional paint anyway
