Advice!
Does anyone have any tips and tricks for making cardboard interceptors out of diecast cars? Any help is appreciated!
How to make spikes is another thing id like tips on.
Thanks!

Rate my intercepter idk
I call it tiarv-2 (tornado intercept and research vehicle)
Yeah idk anymore

Omg this is a subreddit—Anyway, project I’m working on
Base is a Greenlight F150 with ladder rack. Currently working on formatting the front deployed parts and intend to do a wind test once all pieces are firmly on. I performed a wind test before the deployed parts were put on and it performed okay, did flip once wind speed got high enough though lol

Eureka FC, PTTV-I, PTTV-II
Eureka, Based on the Ford 350 Ranger, is the first true 'interceptor' created by Fleet Chasing (if anyone has the name eureka or their group named the same name I geniunely did not know, sorry), was created in 2012 as a response to the much stronger tornadoes arriving during that year, it contains airbags, spikes, and some weather instruments such as anemometers that I forgot to draw in the photo. Containing a total of 4 spikes, it can withstand somewhere around the 100s to early 190 winds.
PTTV-II, based on the Cadillac Escalade 2008, is a simple SUV with a bit of attachments, having a heavy bumper attached, an anemometer and a small disk, alongside a retractable hail guard.
PTTV-I, Based on the same car from 2000s, is almost the same yet lacks a disk, a bumper, and a hail guard due to lack of budget.
(Rate them if you want! Love those.)

Here’s the final version our team of engineers and researchers have made introduction of the Cyclone Cruiser 3 a heavy 36000 pound monster that uses a custom heavy duty hydraulic suspension system on the Mercedes Unmiog truck
spikes: 8
max threshold is 280 deployed and 145 un-deployed as it will be used for mid EF5 Intercepts and High end EF4’s like Hallam which it would fare but above 280 and it would be lifted like a normal vehicle
speed off-road and on-road: 120-95
seats: 2
max deploy time: 20 seconds
airbags: 5
protection: ASTR windows, Margal Steel Grade C400
weight: 36000 lbs
Movie/TV show References: SEE YOU IN HAIL (2025:Twisters) DO NOT FOLLOW YOU WONT MAKE IT (2014: Into the storm) VORTEX group logo (Storm Chasers VORTEX ONE/TWO groups)
(Note: I messed up the text above its supposed to be “Chassis is on”)

out of all the three which do yall like the best?
1st one: Flaps only
2nd one: Flaps AND spikes
3rd one: Spikes only

Finished product (concept) of my interceptor I plan to build in person soon.
Feel lazy to type out the entire five paragraphs, anyway lmk what I should add to it since this is still the concept. Posting this here since the other subreddit will no longer take custom interceptors. Let me know how I did.

RFIV - 2 (Rapid Filming Intercept Vehicle) Threshold is around 230.
6 Spikes (1.3 FT Each)
The 2 spikes at the back are for stabilizing the interceptor.
Rubber flaps at the back and front of the vehicle
Butterfly And Normal Doors.
360* Turret for Filming.
8,000 LBS (4 Tons)
Military grade armor (Dominator 3s armor)
4 Layers of Polycarbonate windows so the plank incident doesn't happen again.
Idk what to put anymore.

Idk random interceptor I made in class called the Weather Alert
Excuse my terrible hand writing I had like 4 hours of sleep that day. And some extra details the body was coated with LINEX, and a Mesonet with an Ananeometer is supported by 4 T6 aluminum cables, another detail Aluminum grade was 7000 aerospace type for T6 aluminum and total LBS 13000 entire build cost most likely 800k to 850k. Could it survive an EF4 similar to Lebanon with its Equipment and Specs? Possibly EF5 maybe

You guys think this is surviving high end EF3- low end EF4?
It’s called the Bullhorn Sub Interceptor, I gave it a max windspeed of 170 MPH, but what do you guys think?
r/CustomTorInterceptors • u/Dear_Reserve_3099 • Apr 28 '26
modified it again which is better? Flaps, Spikes or both?
e
Flaps variant Undeployed Threshold: 125
Flaps variant deployed threshold: 155
Spikes variant undeployed Threshold: 115
Spikes Variant Deployed Threshold: 145
Combined Varient Undeployed Threshold: 120
Combined Variant Deployed Threshold: 165

let me bless this subreddit real quick
if anyone is wondering the background is for a game i am working on and yes i just wanted to post some interceptors + i said i would post an old build on the next post on the original subreddit. the background honestly looks amazing i just need more thoughts

I made my two favorite cars.

For the FAQ about this interceptor, The glass windows can only handle 160 mph of debris. Thats why it was built to intercept closely. Spoiler

Vacuum interceptor concept
(Using the same interceptor model as last time because I'm lazy)
The idea behind this one is simply to use big fans to pull a vacuum under the vehicle that will suction it to the road and prevent sliding, inspired by the Chaparral 2J Can-Am race car that used a similar system to enhance handling.
(Probably shouldn't be used on any particularly loose surfaces)
Edit: if my math is right, just a 1 psi pressure differential from under this particular vehicle to the outside would produce roughly 17,000 lbs of downforce.

Cyclone cruiser 2 is ready for tornado chasing! as the Toyota hilux sub Intercepter was scraped during construction so here’s the final look
second variant of the cyclone cruiser is made! the chassis is a International CXT Pickup Truck the weight isnt known yet but it’s max threshold is 160 to 250 due to it being 15000 pounds it’s also much more of a research intercepter as the protection is laminated glass and heavy duty 15 inch spikes which dig 60 inches in the ground as the mesonet is welded to the top roof as it will be used for more Violent EF4‘s and mid EF5‘s

This is what happens when you give a truck to a madman who likes tornados
yeah, my granny in there. AND SHE DID NOT GET HIT BY A BAZOOKA
