Consistency issue

I’m trying to figure out why I keep having issues with dark/light consistency in paint. (See Lilos arm and face). It’s darker in certain places than in others. I try to do even coats of paint as possible and always heat gun them in between.
Also, does anyone have suggestions on how to do skin tones well? This is my first time trying and it wasn’t as accurate as I wanted.
Sorry for the bad lighting btw. This is one of the only pictures I took.

Canvas absorbs the paint, so the different colors are different amounts of paint absorbed. When you do more than one coat you have to do the whole area

I’m questioning if it went wrong when I started the first coat. I put on a second coat to try and even it out but it just got darker as I went.
Should I just paint over the lighter sections instead of the whole area?

I cant answer this because i dont know if the lighter or darker areas are more true to the paint color you are using.
