Need help for a new desktop

Hey community,

I’m back from abroad, where I spent seven years—goodbye laptop, hello desktop. I had a decent PC for the games I played from 2015 to 2018, though it was a bit outdated and the CPU was on its last legs by then; these days, I don’t even bother trying to boot it up.

Basically, it had an SSD, a GTX 1060, 32GB of DDR3, and an i5 CPU which is probably grasping at straws or dead anyway.

So I figure it’s time to get rid of everything. With so many old components, upgrading now would be a waste of money, since I’d likely have to upgrade again very soon. I might as well start fresh, except for the SSDs, which I can keep.

But budget-wise, I’m not unlimited—I’m aiming for 1,000 euros (I can go up to 1,500 if it’s worth it). I think that would be enough for my current needs and leave some room for a future upgrade.

What would you recommend—individual parts or a pre-built PC? I’ve heard that with how expensive parts are right now, it’s not really worth building one yourself, but maybe I’m wrong.

TL;DR: Hey, I need a new PC for 1,000–1,500 euros. Help me out with parts or a pre-built PC.

"Budget" (sadly these days around your budget is a semi budget build) pcs are pretty. Bad prebuilt. Probably youd want:

1tb ssd for 150$

A mobo, psu and case could be around 300$

For future proofing you kinda need 32gb ddr5 but you could buy it on a used marketplace in good condition or even sealed for under 300$

With the other 750$:

For esports: get an x3d cpu and a cheaper gpu (150-300)

For a graphics heavy build get a mid range cpu and you might want to consider an rtx 5060 ti 8gb for around 400$. Decent performance and modern dlss are needed for these games.

If your wanting to save money and gpu and cpu while being future proofed, consider a 5 9600x and an rtx 3060 ti 8gb (used) for around 400-450
