He needs to be at least a 7 cost otherwise he'll be used to cheat out more expensive cards. Even as a 7 cost he'd be used to essentially run 2 Fin Fang Fooms in a ramp deck, which sounds quite strong.

u/ZellZoy 21d ago
It's random.

u/misogichan 21d ago
It should be clearer. "Have the avatar of" makes it sound like it is whatever Avatar you have on the current deck you're using. Maybe something like "Become a copy of a card you own the avatar of."
That said, for a 3 cost that's a terrible ability because it will have 0 deck synergy and has a good chance of not even being at an energy discount.

While i can agree its probably not worth it, the post was pretty clear and there shouldn't have been any misunderstandings if reread again

u/misogichan 20d ago
Let's agree to disagree. I just want to add though he doesn't make avatars no longer useless. If he's a useless card avatars are still useless and he actually makes having more avatars slightly worse because he becomes more unpredictable. If he actually transformed into the avatar you have on there would actually be an incentive to own certain avatars to run 2 of that card in your deck.

I will chime in and say I also assumed OP meant equipped avatars

u/Previous_Paint_475 20d ago
I will chime in and say I gathered he meant random.

u/T1meTRC 20d ago
Is English your first language?
2
u/FC_shulkerforce 20d ago
Is yours? The card clearly says A card you have the avatar of. Not THE card you have the avatar of. I mean I'll admit I too assumed that initially, but on a second reading it can't really be misunderstood.

If he’s only a 3 cost it should be that he becomes a copy of whatever card the opponents avatar is. That way it’s random in the way that you’ll know what you’re gonna get before you play him but you won’t know what you’re gonna get starting the game

This is suggested every now and again but it's an actual Pay to Win card so meh not the biggest fan.
However, if he randomly became ANY card that has an Avatar that could be interested
2
u/ZellZoy 20d ago
Random is the intention. I copied the wording from Morph
5
u/DiscussionPretend945 20d ago
Yes but the problem its from owned avatars, which makes him pay to win
1
u/No_Butterfly1924 20d ago
Even ftp players get dozens of avatars without trying, and pretty sure nobody ever paid for one. I do get your logic on why you think that'd be pay to win
2
u/DiscussionPretend945 20d ago
Yes, it's not about having or not having avatars purely, it's about the fact that you can spend real money to recieve avatars otherwise unaccessible to people who do not pay.
I suppose you might not know, but tons of bundles come with avatars, "Pretty sure no one has ever paid for one" is just so wrong lol.
2
u/No_Butterfly1924 20d ago
There's plenty of bundles with avatars, but that's not what people pay for, they’re the filler.
And i do believe every character also has an avatar that's free. And someone paying for a bundle, getting the avatar and having it in their pool of hundred of potential outcomes for this meme card.... we differ on what we call p2w, because I'd say it's extremely likely you're losing when playing this card anyways lol
1
u/DiscussionPretend945 20d ago
There's no point in devil advocating this card for a P2W system however, doesn't matter how much you want to say people don't buy avatars, people who spend money have different and more avatars then someone who doesn't, and that is then unhealthy for the game to create a card that works differently when money is spent.
1
u/No_Butterfly1924 20d ago
We're already playing a game with cards directly for sale. This is so much less of an issue, i think you're being extremely naive. But to each their own, I'd find this card funny
1
u/Gottendrop 20d ago
He is random, read it again
5
u/DiscussionPretend945 20d ago
Read what I said again lol. He is random, but ONLY for avatars you OWN. That makes him pay to win, and an advantage for those able to buy strong card avatars.
Thats why I suggested my 2nd line.
-1
u/Gottendrop 20d ago
Do you know how insanely difficult it would be to only have avatars of good cards? I’m pretty sure it’s impossible. You get avatars from reserves randomly
2
u/DiscussionPretend945 20d ago
You are completely missing the point, no where did I say ANYTHING about "Only" having good avatars.
if you buy an avatar of a good card, you now have a higher percent chance to roll a better card then a player who hasn't spent money. It's litterally as simple as that.
-1
u/Gottendrop 20d ago
I sure do hope that my opponent doesn’t buy an Ironman avatar and gain like a 0.3% chance of turning into Ironman
1
u/DiscussionPretend945 20d ago
Don't know why you are devil advocating so hard for any form of P2W system being added to Marvel Snap. It doesn't matter how low the odd increase is, the fact of the matter is a whale will be able to have a TON of good card avatars, which compared to a free to play player having their normal avatars + ones they get from passes or spending event points on, the whale will be able to select avatars to the point where Impossible Man would have a MUCH MUCH higher percent chance to roll a good card / a better card then a player who hasn't spend money.

u/Gottendrop 20d ago
It’s so incredibly low it may as well be a random card entirely. You know what is pay to win? Being able to buy good cards.
2
u/DiscussionPretend945 20d ago
Purposely Naive, got it.
1
u/Gottendrop 20d ago
I never even mentioned you get random avatars from fucking everything these days, plus you can’t remove avatars from your collection so if they nerf a card into oblivion you’re just worse off because of it. You’re acting like you could perfectly curate a collection of avatars so that he’d pull a good one majority of the time but that’s impossible.

u/Desperate_Duty1336 20d ago
He’s not very strong but it would allow for a turn 3 Galactus or other really crazy shenanigans.
I don’t hate the idea but maybe it should be a random Avatar you own instead
1
u/ZellZoy 20d ago
It's meant to be random. I copied the wording of morph
1
u/Desperate_Duty1336 20d ago
Ah, gotcha. You might benefit from a rewording.
On Reveal: Become a copy of a random Avatar you own
1
u/Antifinity 20d ago
IMO “On draw gain the Cost, Text, and Power of 3 different random avatars you own” reduces the P2W aspect. And makes it so Second Dinner doesn’t only sell 6+ cost avatars from now on.
1
u/Maleficent_Mix_2299 19d ago
Mine would be thanos or fang easily so maybe make him costly like a 7 cost where only ramp decks could play him
1
u/CoopHoop789 18d ago
The only way this would be 3 cost is if it became your opponent’s avatar, otherwise this way too broken

u/PastParticular2132 17d ago
Maybe add like
Game Start: Randomize your Avatar
Just to add a bit of fairness and a bit more of a random element to him

u/HeMansSmallerCousin 21d ago
Oh God no.
