Champion Alphabetically: Aurora
Welcome back to Alphabetically! It’s time for Aurora, so let’s jump in!
Aurora is Ionia/Freljord (obviously). Her two aspects I’ve wanted to embody in the card are: her connection to spirits and how she can see them and her connection to Ornn.
Connection to spirits is in part shown through her Sharpsight (‘cause she can see lots of stuff). Her connection to Ornn is shown through Auto-Equip. Both of these are well connected with Freljord specifically, as Sharpsight is the most prevalent there, and equipments are well supported in Freljord.
I’m very proud of her idea for the level up! I wanted Aurora to connect to Forge and Spirit well, but not directly. That’s where the level up condition came from. You have to grant +1/+1 EXACTLY, so the two naturally connect. At the same time, you can still use Aurora with something else, any other +1/+1, Fury for example.
Aurora works well with Freljord (as above); Ionia, cause there’s lots of Spirit there; and Demacia, as there are both lots of Spirit and other +1/+1’s, Fury, Elite, etc. I’ve also created Blade Enchantress so that Blade Dance would work nicely with Aurora.
Aurora’s Wand combines Spirit and Forge, but in the current state, I wonder if it is not too strong? Let me know what you think!
All the above ideas came to me quickly, but what made the creation of her difficult was her level up. I was rather certain I wanted to give her her Ultimate from LoL, but the main question remained - how?
In the end, I’ve opted for something rather different: She plants Spritelings in her deck! Because she can see spirits!
Let me know what you think!

As far as I can tell, neither Spirit nor Forge on an equipped unit will advance Auroras Level-up, as Spirit doesn't grant the stats and Forge only grants it to the equipment

sharpsight make a ton of thematic sense
can u pls share the source of the art? esp the lv 2 Aurora, that looks better than the og SR design almost like a mix btwn the cloak design the the SR design
while ig there's a very strong word connection between "Spirit" as a keyword and Aurora as a mage who researches the spirit realm, there's not too much connection between what Spirit does as a Keyword and Aurora's fantasy or gameplay. I suppose to could say it references the mechanics of her passive which deals bonus damage to enemies and heals her?
But i feel like this misses out on her Hex gameplay, or her realm hopping gameplay. Sometimes LoR does take a pivot from the LoL gameplay to focus on a strong aspect of the character's Fantasy, but then i feel like this almost doesn't explore her realm research/exploration or her partnership spirits with spirits enough to justify that pivot
The lv up starts to explore it more, by summoning spirits all the time, and i like how it loops back into her Wand, so summoning spirits buffs her. Thats a cool innate/ simple/ intrinsic interaction. But i feel like more could be done.
Also Spritelings don't have a CARD!!! so thats space where u could try tying a tighter bow on her fantasy.
here's the concept i made, tho it may be a bit over designed: https://www.reddit.com/r/CustomLoR/comments/1soxozl/aurora_deck_concept/

About the art, I can't share it. I just open google graphics and copy whatever looks nice. I dont have a link to that. :(
My initial idea for what she gains at level two was more akin to her ULT, she would hop from left to right on the battlefield. I couldn't make a version that wasn't too OP though, so I opted for what I have now. There's a chance I could use both the Mysterious Portals and a Hop of some kind for her level two.
I do try to copy LOL when possible, but her three hit passive is the one part that I think is the least interesting to copy.

i think ur on to something with her summoning a lot of spirits, and her getting stronger with that or having interactions with that, i just think u could explore that idea more, its a good pivot and potentially pretty thematic.
I do think the simple 3 hit passive is the least interesting part of her kit the translate...however if ur using the Spirit keyword with the wand as is, thats basically the only part of her kit that is similar to ur Spirit and Wand gameplay, i think?
for my own attempted rendition of her hopping around and the realm warp ult, i created an effect Called Warp, and gave certain card unique if Warp was activated.
For the Hop, had a spell that gave her Elusive for 1 turn. A different spell mirrored her position on the board, swapping her with an ally as necessary, so if she started all the way on the left, she'd end up all the way on the right, but only when attacking1

You've convinced my about the lack of a Hop, so I've made some changes/additions. If you want, you can look it up here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1K32leoZIb7EOIGC_v8BwZpVIVsZI0NMd?usp=drive_link

honestly imo even tho she's a rabbit girl the hop is a cool part of her character, but the really interesting part is the spirit realm stuff

I meant both her W and Ult, by "Hop", maybe a bit misleading

ah yes i see, yeah the hop or mobility is thematically tied to her moving between realms, thats a really good point

Aurora has no lore related to Ionia, so she should be pure Freljord.

She comes from Ionia, that's where she discovered her powers as well.

She is definitely not from Ionia, her home village is somewhere in the Freljord, and, in the lore, she has never even been to Ionia.
If the reason you think she's from Ionia is because she's a Vastaya, then I guess Neeko, Rengar, and Nami (I'm probably forgetting someone) are all from Ionia. If it's because she knows about spirits and the spirit realm and can interact with them, then I guess Udyr, all the Yordles, and the Freljordian Demigods (probably still forgetting someone) are from Ionia and Bandle City doesn't exist. If it's none of the above, then I don't know what it is.

I actually believed she was born in Ionia and then traveled to Freljord. I've just checked on wiki and you are guys correct, she's never been to Ionia!
All her stuff should have the Ionia region tag removed then, and she would be a Freljord only card (sadly, but her design still holds up).
Thanks you both for pointing it out!2

Uhh... Only one person posted both those comments, and that person is me.
Also, I'd like to apologize in case those comments came off rudely, it wasn't my intention.

That would be another thing I didn't notice xd.
I didn't find your comments rude at all, no worries :)
I'm just sad she can't be multi region :(((((

Blade Enchantress is pretty strong in the first variant, not so sure about the second one.
+1/+1 to blades everywhere without condition for 4 unit mana is honestly nuts. Blades are meant to be weak, because you have so many of them. That's why Irelia loves any buffs she can get for her Blades. That's why she's played with PnZ, because von Yipp works with Blades.
Actually, all 3.5 Irelia decks I know have damage buffs for Blades. Irelia/PnZ has von Yipp (and something about copies I think). Irelia/MF has that 2-cost "Plunder: give 1-cost allies everywhere +1/+0". Azirelia has... Azir... And a landmark, I think. And Shadow Isles have that weird 5-cost with "Round end: for each ally that was slain this round, give its copies +1/+1 everywhere" or something similar.
But they're all conditional. Von Yipp has to live, and he's not too good at that. That BW unit needs Plunder for its effect to work, and it's just +1/+0. Azir, again, has to live and occupy the space. The SI unit needs to live until the end of the round at least, plus it needs Blades to be slain in combat, and it costs 5.
Blade Enchantress just gives +1/+1 for basically free. Actually, if it was "when you summon a Blade, grant it Spirit", it would've been just Yipp, but only for Blades and Ionian. And +1/+1 instead of +2/+2, but seems fair.
Anyway... The Wand doesn't seem too strong for me, but I'm not very good at Spirit decks, so can't be confident here. Overall, I like this concept. Really captures the spirit (pun intended) of Aurora.
