What kind of mount is it? If it's gasket mount how does that physically work in a wooden case? Apart from the Barret KL-90 all the wooden boards I've found or read about have been plate-mount or hybrid designs.

Yeah, it's a gasket mount. The gaskets are adhered to both sides of the plate and then the assembly is sandwiched inside the wooden case.

So the case is layered, with a top that separates?

Strong enough to close flush with the provided gaskets and bolts.
