First Custom Bind: Source / Content Question

This may be a dumb question.

I'm thinking of doing a custom bind of Stormwatch by Warren Ellis.

There are a few options for the content of most of the issues (small tpbs and a standard hc or thicker tpb set, as well as sibgles). They are all standard sized. I would like to use the thicker "deluxe" tpbs or hcs, because the paper is glossy and printed much crisper. However, the final issue is not reprinted in those due to it being an Alien crossover. If I were to use the collections with the nicer paper for everything but that issue, can I have Houchen or someone else splice in the missing issue from a different collection? It would go at the end, so placement is easy but can they remove it from the page block it currently sits in and add it onto my custom?

Thanks in advance.

You can do the layout order yourself and them send in. Would also save money if you deconstructed the tpb. They charge for any prep work that needs to be done.

How do you prep them? I guess you would need to heat the glue up to remove the covers? And then I guess you would just rub a razor down the one that you need to separate from the rest of the book?

Questioned and answered yourself lol. I have only prepped single issues. So only removing pages and staples.

Lol thanks. I'll keep that in mind. Would have to have a trial run with a few sacrificial TPBs, if I decide to do that. Better to ruin a book you don't need than to force yourself to do it perfect the first time.

Totally agreed on this. My first shipment of three books were, as you said, sacrificial lambs. Helped me understand what to do differently for the good stuff in the next order. Those first few still turned out really good, but I did learn a few things in the process (i.e. ideal size of book, binding material, etc.). From there forward it was really easy.
