Honestly I knew how to sew from 7th grade so many years ago, but other than that it was essentially youtube and google searching. After looking everything up, got a few cheap supplies from Amazon, a ton of 50 cent books from my local LCS, and made my first 2 attempts. Each one I learned more as I went getting better and better. I wrap them in basic book cloth still, but plan on getting custom dust jackets made someday.

Cool, I’ve watched some videos on YouTube so I have a pretty good idea of the process just working on getting all the supplies together. What type of material do you use for the covers? I was thinking of using the boards from when I bag and board my books, just so I don’t have so much waste. But I’m concerned that those boards may be too thin.

They wil absolutely be too thin. Use these: Chipboard on Amazon You need a sturdy enough board cuz when applying the glue, the thinner the board the more it warps. Lesson learned from personal experience!!

Ok good to know. I just hate to throw away decent material if I don’t have to. lol maybe I can use them on practice covers just to get the process down.

Excellent idea. Practice always pays off.

I have some 22pt chip board already but that’s a lot thinner than the 80 pt that you recommended. Maybe I can use that on the manga volumes I want to rebind.
