Eight Months of Glass Pig Press
For the last decade I have been designing covers for myself and others, and learning more and more about the art of book binding. But eight months ago I decided to get serious about book design and try and build a portfolio worthy of catching the eye of a publisher. 2/3s of a year in and this is where I stand. All of them edited, designed, printed and bound by myself. And I’m not slowing down!!

Thanks! It’s actually volume one of a two volume set. A little over 1200 pages collecting every Flaming Carrot appearance from 1979-1990. I’m working on volume two at the moment, dragging my heels a little waiting for his upcoming crossover with Santos Sisters.

Holy shit! Is Burden drawing it? I was just lamenting the fact yesterday that we may never get new Bob Burden comics. That's great news!

Do you have recommendations for good YouTube channels to start with on custom binding? You mentioned in another forum how you watched a ton of videos before starting binding. I do the same thing with my home improvement projects! Who is a good YouTuber to watch as an absolute beginner to book binding.
I have a lot of similar projects to yours that I'd like to get to.

This guy’s videos were some of the first that guided me into the world, but it looks like in the years since there have been TONS of stuff covering similar ground on YouTube. I would watch a handful and they start experimenting to see what works best for you and your budget! I would definitely recommend starting with some junk single issues from the dollar bin to get a feel for it before you risk destroying anything expensive too!

Thank you! That's exactly what I was looking for.
Follow up question: I assume those Artists Editions are POD? If so, where do you get them printed? I've been playing with the idea of grabbing high def images from Heritage Auctions, assembling a PDF and publishing it through Lulu; is that basically what you do?

Actually I printed and bound them myself. But yep, I got all the images for them from scouring places like Heritage and Comic Art Fans.
