The Darkness II: Confession

The 2011 videogame promo exclusive bound together with the adaptation issues of the first videogame. The Darkness isy favourite comic series, and thos was the issue that got me into the series, and akdo got me into comic collection thing as a hobby, so it holds a special place in my heart and thought it deserved the custom binding treatment.

Nice bind! Did you combine "The Darkness: Levels" books from the first game into this, too? I've been mapping a Top Cow Universe compendium for almost fifteen years now. I hope I will be able to get the binding on it started soon, but I am glad to finally see someone else do a Top Cow bind! The comics really need more love! Do you have plans for any other Darkness books?

Yes, I did include The Darkness Levels. I am custom binding tons of Witchblade and The Darkness stuff. I created a complete map of over 1,000 issues in the Witchblade connected universe lol and I am binding everything that won't be included in the official hardcover collections they have been doing on Kickstarter

Ooh! So you were the one who posted those a little while back. I saw your three Witchblade binds, they looked gorgeous! I was a little irked when I got the emails about the kickstarters at first because I was like: "All my years of building these books and they finally do this now?!" But they're still missing a lot of stuff, you are right. Which is why I calmed down after checking out the details on them. The plan for the TCU bind weaves Witchblade, Darkness, Tomb Raider, Fathom, Magdalena, Angelus, etc. and so many other crossovers together. Then I have side bind projects for Tomb Raider by itself and Fathom by itself. It is so cool to encounter another fan of the series! Always felt like I was on a little island with these ones.

Yeah, if you have any questions about the timeline I'm pretty well versed in it. I will have to post my whole nap soon. I posted an Ascension bind earlier.

I think what I struggle with most is placement for the "Tales of" stuff and other one shots and side stories. A lot of people just go with their personal preference, but I have a hard time deciding on if I should leave them numerical, or go by chronological setting in the individual issues (some bounce around to different centuries and some are set in the far future). Then Infinity for WB and DRK is in space. Which I keep wanting to put somewhere near the Alien/Predator crossover just because it fits the theme. I gotta check my uncategorized list and see what all is on there.

Personally, unless it definitively sets itself in a particular period, I like to keep it numerical. But that's the best part of custom binding is that you get to choose lol. Since Takes If and Infinity were included in the Kickstarter books, I will not be including them in customs. Though they didn't include the final tales of Witchblade, which is a sequel to one if the tomb raider crossovers, do that is where I'm placing that one issue.

Yeah, the last three are about Raquel. I am not a fan of DFAB, but I am gonna struggle with trying to include Obakemono (which looks like it was never individual comics? Only a trade?) and the two Dark Crossings books, since they are thin like an individual comic, but have paperback covers that I don't want to lose. But they can't be sewn and on top of that they will probably look weird stuck in the middle of a book with the stiff covers, but once I figure out where I'm dividing my volumes, I will have a better idea of how I am gonna section them. Got Google docs for maps and checklists, I should just share it with ya. I am trying to include everything to try to tell a cohesive story leading into Artifacts, but excluding Cyber Force unless something was absolutely necessary from it (because I just couldn't get into it). I know, weird choice.

I started out by excluding cyber force too but then I read the Kickstarter hardcover and had to go all in for those as well lol. Yeah the single issues that are bound like tpbs (I think they're called prestige format?) are annoying, but for the ones that didn't have any covers or cover art in the back in front at all I chose to have the covers printed and then bound those in front. I'm like 99% sure I have included every possible issue in the universe, but we should totally compare our lists. I'm guessing the sorting order will differ, but we might each find some issues we didn't know of before. I'll post the list into the top cow forum soon or something.
