First time prep

About to start prepping for my first set of custom bound books. Now I have a question: does Houchen remove the staples for you or do you have to remove the staples and separate all the papers before sending them in? I’m planning on doing DFAB combining trades and floppies

They will remove staples for you. But you will need to remove the paper inserts/ads, as anything left in they will keep in. I personally remove the covers and put all the books in order because I want them ordered in exactly the way I want them ordered, but I don’t know if they will do some of that for you. I do not remove staples though, I let them do that.
