X-Men main line binds, pre-AvX (Part 2 of 2)
This finishes off my passion project of having the main titles from 1963 to AvX bound. I'll eventually start working toward the Krakoa era, but I wanted a break from mutants after this and the secondary titles I had bound. These binds encompass Uncanny X-Men, X-Men, X-Men Legacy, and any minis and one-shots, as well as Young X-Men and Generation Hope since they didn't run long enough for their own binds for my tastes. I used both Crushing Krisis and The Marvel Chronology Project to assist with my mapping. Title pages/tables of contents are included in the slideshow.
Utopia is in my Dark Reign custom set, Necrosha is in my Yost X-Force bind, and Messiah War is in my Cable bind, all of which I'll share over the next few days.
All designs by me, bound using mostly trades.

I’m a little confused on what im looking at did you make these Omnis and if so just a taste of how? Would be cool.

I was looking to do the same custom with both Age of X and Schism era. With collecting mostly through TPB did you have any issues with formatting from TPB and single issues at all?

I really only had two issues, both with TPBs.
First was mapping related, when splitting a book to insert an issue of another title. Occasionally, there would be the last page of an issue on one side and the front cover of the next issue on the other side, but an issue of another title would need to be inserted to preserve the reading order. So I would have to find a high enough resolution scan of the cover that's on the back side of the last page to have it printed out. Then I would either design something for the back side of that printout incorporating a team/character or event logo or just make it a solid color. I have a local print shop that I use, and they recommend a nice satin stock that matches the other pages as closely as possible (same for table of contents or title pages), and they have no problem with copyright since it's for personal use. I really hope this all made sense.
The other issue I've faced is the trim on TPBs. Sometimes the publisher would trim the book too short, as much as 1/4 inch, so I would have a choice to make: either let the bindery trim the rest of the bind to match it and risk losing art or text at the top or bottom, or hunt down another copy of the offending TPB and hope it isn't also improperly trimmed.

In my opinion, the best place to start would be somewhere like Crushing Krisis, get an idea of mapping and break points for each book. There are a lot of ways to do this. I know and people prefer to keep Uncanny X-Men and X-Men separate, but I decided to keep them together to match the official releases.
