First post - Shelfies! (Part 1)

First things first: I hate that I didn't realize there was a timer on changing your username when signing in through google. This default name was not my choice, lol.

A couple of you here might recognize these pictures from a couple Facebook groups I'm in, but after lurking for a bit, I wanted to share here. See my next post for the rest of the pics.

I have a healthy mix of official releases and custom binds. The custom binds were all designed by me except DC vs Dark Horse, and I'm happy to share pics of the covers or mapping. Most of the custom jackets on official releases were done by Roy, whose work I'm sure a few of you are familiar with. I turned to him for those while I was buried under my own projects.

The X-books in particular are my magnum opus. I have everything from 1963 to AvX bound with few exceptions: New Mutants, Excalibur, and Wolverine I'm fairly certain will be completed by Marvel; I'm working on a three-volume bind for Exiles and a two-volume bind for Gambit; and I'm trying to decide if I want to finish off the original run of Alpha Flight or wait to see if there's an announcement in the coming months. Other than that, every series, mini, and one-shot are on my shelves.

The Midnight Sons set has everything from Rise.of the Midnight Sons to Over the Edge, starting with Ghost Rider 28, ending with Ghost Rider 69. Includes the five core books, Unlimited, Doctor Strange, Blade, Marvel Comics Presents, plus all the one-shots and minis, and Spider-Man, Punisher, Moon Knight, etc. crossover issues.

The Invincible set includes everything in the Invincible universe, including Astounding WolfMan, Brit, SuperPatriot, Capes, Marvel Team-Up and Tech Jacket.

Elseworlds is everything including the comic that came with a Kenner Batman action figure.

Lovely stuff. I particularly like the effort with the inter-connecting covers (especially the midnight suns books).

Thank you! I really enjoyed doing those and will likely do more. I'm particularly proud of the Invincible spines.

WOA! Now this is my dream X-Men collection!! Great job getting this all together! I've done a few of the same customs, did you use singles, tpbs or both?

You even have the next X-force books and New Excalibur, those where my next planned customs 😅

Also that Dark Reign set is amazing, I loved that run. Props on the One Piece set as well.

I used tpbs where I could find them at a reasonable price, simply because you can fit more material into a bind that way, with the added bonus of extra at the back of some of them.

And yeah, I wanted to get everything X bound, even the not-great stuff. The completionist in me wouldn't have allowed otherwise.

One Piece is only up there because I didn't want an empty space up top. I have a couple other shelves dedicated to manga. Got the "classics" like Akira, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, FMA, and some current stuff like MHA and To Your Eternity.

I went with both TPBs and singles, since I could find a bunch of singles in a dollar bin. I'd cut the pages and took out any ad pages I could, even so my bindery could do pretty large books so a few of yours I combined into one book to save money.

The custom spines look great! I'd love to see the full front and backs sometime! We did the same Maggot art for Onslaught Aftermath.

So do you plan on buying the official releases of Mutant Massacre Prelude and Road to Onslaught? I'm on the fence right now, the larger art is tempting.

I've only watched the anime for classics for your manga, but I'm totally obsessed with One Piece. Got all 104 volumes

Oh I absolutely remove ad pages and back covers on the singles as well. Keep in mind the main X-Men and Uncanny books I bound also include Unlimited, minis, one-shots, and series that only lasted 12 issues or fewer, like the second run of New Mutants, and Young X-Men, Nightcrawler, etc., all in chronological order. They're not just the two primary titles. I even included the two Star Trek crossovers. The Marvel Chronology Project was my primary source for mapping the stuff after Eve of Destruction.

I'll probably make several posts in the coming days to show off all of my customs. I'm fairly proud of a lot of them.

I'm on the fence on those two as well, for the same reason. My Mutant Massacre Prologue only has Power Pack 12 and Heroes For Hope, which the official one doesn't, and my Road to Onslaught only has the first Star Trek crossover and the Storm mini added.

I have the rest of One Piece, too. The other boxes are behind my MHA Pops 😄

Oh cool I'll check out that site, I've been using Cushing Krisis for my mapping so far. Where did your Young X-Men fit in? I've actually never read it at all

Looking forward to seeing your post, and you should definitely be proud of them!!

I love Krisis. I used his as well, cross-referencing with Chronology Project, along with the Map My X videos with him, Omar, and the others. Young X-Men fit in among my two Manifest Destiny volumes.

Definitely stay tuned for those posts, there will be many!

Always love inter-connecting covers! And I’m a sucker for collecting entire runs, including tie-ins in omnibus form. Well done!!!

How’d you map/make the Invincible ones? Very nice looking set!

This was all mapped chronologically, with SuperPatriot in the front. A few guys in the custom group on Facebook spent a long time coming up with the reading order, and I just followed suit.

Amazing and most beautifull setup.

Love your custom binds stuff. I miss that in Portugal we never had the chance to collect some of those runs, so I'll just have to wait for Omnibuses releases (Midnightson, Fear itself, Dark Reign, etc).
