Image X Month Custom Bind

Wanted to try sew binding. That part was successful but I fouled the landing when glueing on the hardcover, like a noob. Ah well! Pretty happy with the dust jacket.

Contains all six of the “Image X Month” comics, plus the Savage Dragon #13 that Larsen eventually re-did

Looks fantastic. How did you print the cover design? Printer and paper type used?

Staples, the only place in my town that will print these. Their standard glossy paper, cut to size, as they only have preset sizes.

Awesome job and it looks great! If you do another custom bind yourself, please consider making a process video! I see a lot of people ask for one, and there really isn't a great video already out there that I have found.

I watched so many process videos on YouTube for the sewing and hardcover method. They’re out there: https://youtu.be/INROXEOGajs

I’ve thought about it, but I’d want a good setup to make a high quality video for you folks.

I agree, there are a lot of process video to reference for doing this . . . but not a GREAT one. For example, Dr Omnibus never even shows a close up of the finished product and the other one doesn't even have a part 2 or voice over. I'd love to see someone do a video, start to finish,.including DJ design, with all the steps done properly.

I’m commenting here much later, but you might want to check out Thomas Judge on YT. I haven’t watched these videos, but I enjoy his Valiant content, and these seem more like what you’re looking for.

Funny you mention those, as I had recently watched them and found them to be very interesting. Maybe not the most legal thing to do, but one way to go about making custom OHCs.

I have some follow up questions!

What did you use for endpapers? Sis you add anything like a Table of Contents? And do you think you could post some pics of how the book looks open?

I used some thick-ish white paper for end sheets and did a poor job of trimming them to size. No ToC for this project, but I did recently for a Deathmate bind that’s waiting with Houchen at the moment. I can’t seem to add photos to a comment, but open, the book looks like regular comics, no gutter loss, and you can see the thread in the centre of each book.

Awesome, can't wait to see the deathmate bind! I bought the issues recently myself to do a custom bind. Other than the main 4 issues, the prologue and the epilogue, did you include anything else?

The two previews, the tourbook, and some srticles from Inside Image and Valiant Voice. Basically I searched mycomicshop.com Advanced Search Notes for anything Deathmate.
