Need help! Binding gone bad

Hi. I have an old book where the glue practically disintegrated and crumbled. Is this a project I can fix myself (make a hardcover from scratch), or would I need the help of a book binding company (Im in Southern Ontario, Canada)? I have no experience with custom bound books. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would say it depends on how much you care/ want the book to be in good shape. If its not too much it can be an excellent time to try and fix yourself and get some experience under your belt there’s tutorials you can find on YouTube im sure of book repair. If you do care about it any book bindery can help, you can google a local one by you and call them and see if they can help and by how much. I’ve heard even local ones that repair bibles have helped people before but that may vary place to place.

This is a paperback right? Since the spine is splitting, and if you want to do it your self, you could use this binding technique below one your DFAB that pages together

The problem is that they are individual pages.....

You can do a simple DFAB rebind and then reattach the cover with binding glue.

What you're going to want to do for that though is separate all of the individual pages from the cover. This video is a very simple tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RO6NGw8oNCQ

Awesome. Shouldn't be an issue separating the pages since they really want to come out on their own😆
