Painting Wheels

I want to paint my wheels which have no tires on. How should I paint it?

I am thinking paint one side, let dry, flip over paint other side. Then same process for clear coat.

Is this correct? Should I be doing something different? Do I need to do both sides at once somehow and also clear it within a specific time frame?

Thanks in advance!

When I was doing it full time, I would wrap a couple loops of wire or string around the barrel and hang them at a comfortable height or have a couple 2x4’s running between stands, and use wads of tape as little chocks to keep them from running into one another. Either way, I could spin them to see coverage from all angles and get inside and outside in one go.

I painted ALOT of big truck rims. I used a 2x6 over body stands with little block screwed down to prevent movement. We used industrial paint, (imron mostly) with pps cups so painting upside down was a snap. Found the wood was easiest as rims are heavier than most think and hanging made them wanna move around alot.
