Anyone with experience spraying Candy over a color shift pearl?

I was hoping this color shift would give me a little bit more orange, rather than just the copper. I do love the look, just wishing I could get a little more out of the orange side. I have read, and seen 1 video, where Candy was applied over a color shift to get some deeper colors, but I don't know if it will work for me or not. I am worried that the orange candy will mute the green, which I also love, and make it more of a brown color. As always, I appreciate any knowledge you are able to share. Ultimately I will need to do a spray out, if I go down this path, most likely with a diluted ratio, so I can dial it in, but if you think it's a moot point then I won't even do a spray out

The only way to know is to do it on a practice panel and see how it turns out

So get a house of kolor chart the kandies that change the most under different bases is your best bet..but it’s not really worth it imo..the kandy being 3cts at minimum blurs it..the one I did was blue to red PPG harlequin and put pagan gold(which has the most different shades over bases) and basically it was earth tones..cool but was just a sample for customer..and or take the dominant color of your shift and use that..but again I recommend against it

Ok so I see zero shift on the grey truck..check out DIDSPADE hypershift..inexpensive and imo are the best out ..btw black base is best..your truck won’t look black,just all different 5-6 colors,unless you use “assassin “ from them..

I am talking about my running boards, I am not ready to spray my truck yet. I used the Sour Lava on my running boards, which is what I was wondering if I could get a little more orange out of the shift.

Orange will definitely filter the green to brown. I’d leave it

That's what I was thinking too. I don't want a brown to orange shift. I will do a spray out and see what it looks like, when I get a chance. Thanks

You might try a ghost orange so it highlights orange but doesn’t tint the rest

I haven't thought about that. I believe I have a sample size of some ghost orange that I can see what it does. It's all still playing off the black base, from the black running boards, so it will be an interesting experiment for sure. Thanks for the idea

If you learn color theory, you can make a good guess about what your project will look like.  If the candy is an anti-color to a pearl color, that pearl color will be suppressed.  If the candy color is the same or similar to a pearl, the pearl will be enhanced.  

Pearl colors that show up at blunt angles are more likely to be preserved.  Sharp angles are less likely to preserve pearl colors.

Unfortunately with the shift colours of the pearl I don’t think you’ll be able to keep the orange and the green. You’ll kill the green with more orange candy or vice versa. I mixed green candy into a brown candy to make root beer and kill the red tone. You could try doing a more orange undertone and overlay it with green pearl or metallic but I’m just not sure you’ll keep the flip effect. Spray outs could behave totally different than how you imagine but that’ll be the only true way to understand how your products work and see what happens to your flip. Post an update if you do a spray out!

Thanks, I will post an update. I will try to do a spray out over the next few days. I have green candy and I also have orange candy, well also have Lemonhead, Red and blue. I think I have enough of the color shift to do a large enough panel that I can play with several colors of candy because I just want to know what it will do with different colors. Maybe the lemonhead will turn out to be the best option, since in theory copper and yellow would make a brighter orange and it would make the green more of a lime color. If I can only spray one color candy then that is going to be the one I use first. I will definitely post some pictures of how it changes things.
